So with bo3 mapping/modding tools supposedly coming in a few months or so, is anyone gonna be upgrading there tech? cause i really dont think my pc will be able to handle all the radiant light rendering and such, especially when it struggles with waw radiant

I'm thinking of getting a new graphics card, for gaming, and for mod tools, but might get a new cpu fan and case first... 


I've upped my ram already just to play the game. I only had 8 so I got 16, and now the game runs at 9+,

I am using 8GB Ram and memory usage is around 6GB on Medium Settings. Some people have reported VRAM usuage at 5+GB on Ultra.

I got a "new" PC not just for BO3 though.

Nice, I didn't get a gaming pc years ago, I got an asus with an octa-core at a decent price refurbed for the other office type things I do as well besides gaming, that I figured I could upgrade over time. So it isn't quite tuned for just gaming. But I also don't know much about computers, lol, and even less when I bought it. My current graphics card though is a 1gb card that can get "Up to 2GB GDDR5 Memory", whatever that means, but I'm sure it probably has something to do with some of the issues I experience currently. And probably won't handle BO3 mod tools as well either.

GPU: EVGA Nvedia GeForce GTX 960
RAM: 8GB

tbh prob will still be able to run the new radiant. they gave us things like "cubic clipping" in which to support it, most post rendering effects are not applied in "editors" at all, except in specific views ( eg no nml or spcs displayed in waw radiant, that will likely be the case in that one too prob, as its seen as "unnecessary" to see during that stage, and should be checked "in engine - "run map after compile" )

The only issue is likely to be long wait times, and maybe a laggy interface

but there is this light preview thing much better than waw, and i think that will be heavy on performance, from what we have seen, it looks like they added a bunch of new stuff

Only thing I've been thinking of upgrading is my GPU, to a 970 or similar. I'd upgrade CPU too but that's overkill since I already have a good i5.

I think if anyone plans on using BO3 tools, they're gonna need to at least run the game... so upgrades might be needed all around.

Might get a 970 since I have 200$ in amazon gift cards and really I never buy anything from amazon.
I don't know though, maybe if I find a book or something I'll buy that instead.

Ya that's what I was kinda figuring by looking at other peoples (gtx 970 seems like light years past my 660) but tbh I really have no idea.
I'm just wondering if I can cram a bigger video card into my small alienware x51 case or if I have enough power to even run larger. Guess it's off to google to do some investigation.

If my 570 can play it fine your 660 can run it. Not to mention a friend of mine has a 660 and I see him playing BO3.

The 660 should be just fine for 1080P 60FPS on medium(with other more intensive effects turned off).

If you do want to crank up the options(including the intensive affects) i'd recommend getting a GTX 960 4GB. You shouldn't need a new power supply as the GTX 960 actually consumes less power  than the 660(this is assuming your power supply has an 8-pin power connector, which is required for some GTX 960s).
