I've had that in my signature since the fad of adding donate buttons in signature. (A link to sparks post) I have even tried to think of things that people would want to pay for, to raise money like sparks is doing.
I doubt anyone with half a brain will have any issues with donating to charity. If they do, I wish horrible things upon them. If people are willing to pay for this stuff, turning it into a fund raising for children is a noble thing, that imo no one can argue with (no that's not a challenge), and I would love to be a part of it if I could.
Edit: One idea I had was for people to send receipt of donation, which sparks charity emailed. To have something more official like the links posted would be great.

I'm currently trying to write a PHP page to work together with Fracture-Forums. This page will then be used to track all donations made through that page.

When I donated to the last charity I got early access to another game. It's common practice to reward those that give to charities, or even just pay for early access or pre-order games, with things that really have little to no value, like beta's or costumes, or extra weapons. It's not really "getting wildly popular". I highly doubt activision would have any issues with charity, and if it became popular, I bet would even endorse it as many gaming companies and employees have grown to recently. For example http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=cms.page&id=1197
As far as non profit, if the purpose is to raise money for the charity, when they release the beta for those that donate, then it is non profit due to their money going to charity or the purpose that they will try to further achieve. The mapping and creating the map are simply the means or product, and if any money were to be used for that purpose, could be considered not non profit. Yet it could be argued that even that would be non profit if they used it to continue to further provide to it's purpose, charity in this case, rather than profit.
I'm looking forward to this, I hope you provide a link when finished. I could even see this being it's own site. "Zombie BETA - Charity" ZBC - Raise money for charity with your hobby, lol, but that is just wishful thinking prob.

Guys please, Were trying to find a way to show everyone's donations and we will see who has donated from there. If it comes to it, we will just ask for a receipt from the charity that the person has donated too. And do it that way. I get that some people are sceptical that we will just keep the money. But we will find a way which will make it 100% secured to the charity.
FYI I'm not the type of person to essentially steal from dying children.

After some discussion, we came up with an idea that could be a win-win for both sides and still be within legal boundaries. Basically, on the donation page, you would be able to choose where the money goes (like in Humble Bundle). The user would decide how much each side gets. It could be 90% to charity and 10% to pay the server costs, 100% for charity, 50/50 or even 100% to pay the server costs. We need your feedback on this.

I like that idea. Would it also be a system where donators can choose how much they donate in total, rather than 1 set value? There could still be a minimum but it'd be cool for people who want to give more.
