Next time then ask it in a more valid way than posting some throw away comment with aat the end of it.
I explained above the purpose of the section but to answer your question, no we would not approve replies but would just moderate the replies as usual. If people post abusive responses they will be met with a warning.
It's common sense at the end of the day and if people are too stupid to understand then they deserve to be banned. This is a forum where people are supposed to share their maps, ideas, advice and criticisms without name calling, back stabbing or general bullying. People should not be asking us to delete their WIP threads because they are ashamed of their work, yet here we are... 3 mappers with deleted WIP threads in the last few weeks because they were humiliated.

It's still a WIP idea that we need to put thought into. There is issues we would need to overcome or work on but the idea is to have a section where people can post their work without having users abuse them because they feel the map is too basic, small or just have an ego problem and feel they need to mock those less talented.

That sounds great and all but at what point do you draw the line of whats abusive or not? Some may say that non constructive criticism is abusive while others(such as myself) say that it isn't.

i dissagree with the ego part, it is ok for someone to have an opinion on someone who spent 1 hour making a map
as oppose to those who spend months

Where exactly will you draw the line on "new mappers" and more experienced mappers. You say first, second, or third maps, but not all maps are created equal. For instance, I've been working on my first map for over a year (which I am not proud of lol) and I would consider it to be at a quality slightly higher than most "first maps ". (not trying to be conceded, I've just really spent a lot of time on it to make it good.) Would the map maker be able to decide if they go in the "new mapper" section or would it be determined by mods/admins? Same goes for stevies map (Wich I believe is his first) which will obviously be at professional standard. That certainly doesn't belong in the new mappers section .
I think it's a good idea, just needs to me implimented properly.
I think it's a great idea, and I believe I was the one who initially requested it wasn't I?![]() | Benevolent Soul who has our eternal gratitude and exclusive access to betas and the donator section of the forum. |

Well the whole point of the section would be for new, inexperienced mappers to post their work whether it's their first, second, third or tenth map without fear of belittlement or insults. If a mapper has worked a long time on their map and it looks pretty good then they are obviously experienced and do not need to submit maps into this new section. Even if it's their first map.
The 'New' part is meant for inexperienced is all. This way when people look in this section they will expect to only find basic and/or under detailed maps which could also have perk and weapon issues.

, and they are everywhere spread on the internet, every forum is like that and facebook and youtube is far worse than here, people have too many guts when they are behind their computer. But i understand it is a problem that bothers the OP and the kind people who are highly active here.

I completely agree with this. as i am a new mapper and i haven't released a map yet i was hesitant to make a work in progress thread because of people making stupid remarks.I have been adding my updates into the original post but i never thought of putting and update to the subject i'll have to remember that for later posts.Spoiler: click to open...*cough(Apex)cough*[close]

I think some are looking at this in the wrong light
Yes its a decision, is this comment acceptable? Is it not?
But thats for the mods and site owners to decide, not the users. The users are expected to follow the guidelines provided
Im not saying that other peoples input on this matter isnt welcome. But If we put "but I think" on every post we moderate, there will always be at least "one" person who opposes the decision made
The point here is to create a safe haven for the new mappers, If comments are deemed harsh they will be removed and a warning given. I think thats completely fair, otherwise its a constant democracy that gets us nowhere
If your told what you said was too harsh, the solution is clear - write it again, but this time in a manner we "will" see as constructive and not dismissive. Or dont repost
As for the constant derailment, I think nearly all of us have fallen into this fly trap lately, and I completely agree that we need a area of focus on this, but we also need to be respectful. Some people seem to speak their mind, then when someone says "i take offense at that" - rather than just say "sorry, no offence intended" - instead it turns into bashing that person for "feeling offended"
a feeling is just that, if you "feel" offended, the "normal" thing to do is not to further that, just because you dont "think" they should be annoyed or offended. Ive seen both sides of this arguments, and I think its time all that goes behind us, locked in a deep dark cupboard
As for the "new mapper" section. Of course we would not condemn a long time member who we know has been around and active for a lengthy period of time to a "new" mappers group lol, its for those of us without that back log of forum time, who may be more sensitive to the harsher words some people share ( and lets be fair, there are "certain" people who go into maps just to find something they can rip on and absolutely NEVER say anything even remotely helpful )
Imagine its the "safe from hate and monitored ruthlessly" section
Moving forward, if we all do our part with this, I think we can bring this back to the happy place its always been, its all about zombies at the end of the day people
