Today I came up with making this thing for easy use to people. No more excuses for using stock PaP camo :D
Just drag the file into your mods folder in appdata and done! No need to compile, very easy and doesn't take that much space in your mod :)

Should look like this:



(Could have made it better, but since I can't edit material file, this can do)

On that note tho, id recommend just putting it in

then build your mod ( this will move it to appdata anyway ), otherwise things can get confusing later, as you need to keep checking differences between your appdata folder and root/mod folder - but they should really both be the same anyway

Sorry i keep asking questions but I managed to get ported black ops weapons.....does the camo auto texture them or do they need a separate upgraded version? (Like how every weapon has a upgraded and normal folder) It works great on the others though! :) :)
I think treyarch did it with some skin override method, as the papd guns still get ported out with normal textures

the way we do it, is using two models, and assign the pap textures to one of them

easiest way to do this is just copy the entry for the model in asset manager, and call it _upgraded or something

The at the bottom youll see a "skin Override" box. you can use this to change materials, to use other materials

youd do something like this

bo2_mtl_p6_zm_wpn_m1911 pap_camo_name
bo2_mtl_p6_zm_wpn_m1911_metal another_pap_camo_name

most guns only replace "certain parts" of the guns with papd textures, usually the handle, attachments and stuff retain the normal textures

The alternative, but longer way is to either change the name of the materials in maya, and export it again

Or open the xmodel in raw/xmodels with notepad, and go change the material name. you will still need to convert the papd model in assman either way tho, and doing option A means you can change your mind as easily as opening assman and changing the texture name

I like to do it using SkinOverride. It's much easier than going into maya and changing it manually.
i only recently bothered using it, but yeah is especially handy if your working on a camo too, as you can easily swap em in and out accordingly

thats how i cooked up those 5 camos, with relative ease :)

there really isnt much need for a video

just copy the model in asset manager

so select your model, click "copy entry"

make the new name different, maybe just add _upg to the end or something

Now if you converted that "right now" it would be "another copy" of that same gun, if you check in asset viewer, you can check it out


now back in asset manager on the right hand side, near the bottom, theres some big text boxes you can write in

one says skin override



Now, keep asset view open while you do this if you want an easy life


In asset viewer, when you look at a model, the models "materials" names appear in the bottom right, those are the material names you will put into the skin override box. Just do one for now

so pick one of those names, and type it into the skin override box

then a space

then the "new" material name

now if you convert, close and reopen asset viewer, the model now has the new texture






Saying that tho, i think this pack, overwrites the stock texture anyway

So if your using a waw gun, you wont need to do anything other than copy the files

if your not, the itll be the silver_etching material or whatever its called

you can check one of the WaW upgraded guns in asset viewer to find out what the default pap camos material name is and use that if that is the case



The only other thing you need to do, is copy the images to your mod folder

root/mods/MODNAME/images/    HERE


tick them in launcher, and build mod

Just follow this tut. You will be applying stock camo, but since you have my .iwd added in your appdata mods folder, it overwrites the stock camo in-game
