Oh, as far as I am aware it only works with an xbox controller. However there may be ways around that trem or Phil or someone else might know about. Actually I have an idea, maybe I don't know if this would work but if you want it on pc try to see if you can set the console type to xbox. But I am not 100% sure that would even work.

Yah Ik but based on what he is looking for he wants it to basically print the xbox use button rather than the common Use Button or F for pc.

I don't see why you would want it to use the XBox X symbol on PC when the player is not using a controller? Doesn't make sense to me.

u could just use the actual button names:
sethintstring("press and hold", {BUTTON_X}, " to buy ...");
warnin that might a variable thats not prefedined.

The game automatically places the 'use' key into the strings to use things, when using an Xbox control the use button text changes to an 'x' button logo.

No it does not,
I use an xbox controller, and it doesn't switch it.

For the newer CoD's they added all the Xbox/PS3 buttons to their fontmap so that they could just type them as special characters in their strings. In CoD5 and below, they just used colored fonts to represent the buttons in hinstrings. If you want to edit the fontmap yourself and replace a known character that you know is not used anywhere else with an image of a controller button you could do so. But I hope you make it so that non-controller users don't see the buttons when they play.

Oh, it might of been Black Ops then. I do remember playing a CoD on pc would automatically switch the strings to the buttons though.

im pretty sure they hav {BUTTON_(the button u want)} thats how i did it when i modded waw for xbox at least
