started around the time my power supply blew, weapon editor CONSTANTLY fails to write, suspecting the file is open elsewhere

well this pic, is "immediatly" after a reboot and redownloading the program AND using a COPY of the weapon file i put on my desktop??? (also running as admin)

Check for duplicates in weaponfile and if some parts are in different spots than they should be. I got this fixed for few weaponfiles, when I noticed I had hidetags twice on weaponfile

I get this issue all the time. I was told to use notepad as a resolution. There are certain files that it just won't work on and I haven't figured out why yet. And it isn't consistent. I used another weapon editor and it worked, and then came back to ugx editor, it worked only once. Then again, same error. I can do that all day, open with other editor, save, and then open with ugx again and change and save. Not all files worked this way. Some still will not work with the ugx editor anymore, or ever. I started juts using the editor as a reference and editing in notepad.

Your missing a major point here guys

Its not one or two weaponfiles, its "any" weapon file, Ive also redownloaded the program

Is there no way to fix this? Never had this issue before, was happily using it for over a year then BOOM

What is the program detecting the weapon file format as. This happened to me when I would try and save a animation weapon file and it would either detect as n/a or bo1. Try hitting the convert to cod5 button and saving even if its detected as cod5 format. That worked for me.


P.S. My problem grew worst then yours at a time cause I wasn't even able to save my weapon files in notepad at one point. Notepad would spit the same error telling me to close it in a opened program after countless reboots.

its reading the file just fine, picking it up as cod 5 (i have checked with BO1 too, they work fine also)

Only thing I cant do is save, which is very annoying

In this link is a file I can save and a file I can't save, labeled good and bad. Do you have the same results? Or does the good one not let you save either?

"any" file dude, even opening the stock files, copying them to other directories, renaming them, everything. Its not a "induvidual file" problem, its something to do with the UGX program

Hmmm, yeah. I get this on invidual files and when I sent one to Trem, he had it working fine. Sorry, dude, dont know

If neither of those files I sent work for you, then wow. Did you try running as admin, and check the properties? If either one did work for you, have you checked that the files are not accidentally read only?

Havent been home yet to try, but to all of your questions - yes lol

Running as admin, tried compat mode, they are not read only, moving/copying the files, creating new ones, redownloading the program, you name it

But ill give your files a try when i get in

In the mean time i keep transferring the files to my laptop and editing it there, but its really not ideal

Is fast startup enabled? Try disabling it, restart, and see if it works. I had to do that once for a script that wouldn't update regardless of how many times i tried compiling the damn mod.

by "fast startup" do you mean all these flashy win8 features? If so, yes they are all disabled. My GPU would not work wih these settings, I had to go back to legacy
