My views on this have changed as I've gotten older. I honestly do not see why anyone should be able to own a high cap magazine or a fully automatic rifle. There is no sportsman reason to have that equipment and it just makes mass shootings more deadly. Of course banning those items are not going to stop people from getting killed but its going to make a difference in how quickly these people can take out groups and how deadly they are vs law enforcement. Any small steps we can take like this are in the right direction towards eliminating these cases.

That can't be coincidental, we're doing something different. It's either the availability of guns or the type of people obtaining them - neither of which we can fix. You can stop them from being purchased but that doesn't stop people from finding them.

Lots of candidates on the GOP side love to blame "mental health" for gun violence - "these people who are shooting groups of people are nuts and we need to fix them not take away the guns". This may very well be true but what the fuck are you going to do about it? I don't see anyone reinventing the health care system to get mental therapy to these people who supposedly need it... and how do we know who needs it? How do we force these nutjobs to take the therapy?

The whole thing is a fucking mess and neither side has a valid solution.

sometimes bullying and stuff is the reason, but not so much lately. Its just stupid crap, like joker wanna bes, jihadi masacres in the name of gods or revenge for cheerleaders refusing to give them naked photos

Solving the problem is hard, because America is loaded with Crazy People who are one incident away from cracking. Add the fact they had ready access to guns, just adds to the horror show. In Australia, as summed up by the Jim Jefferies video that was put up there a bit eariler, we had a large massacre, then we realised that letting people have ready access to firearms is a terrible idea, so we made it you had to legally obtain it by having the appropriate license, as well as the fact we banned all assault weapons (burst/full auto rifles and majority of the semi-autos, semi-auto/full auto shotguns included) mainly due to the fact it's a bit stupid to say you are hunting a Kangaroo or a Boar with a M16 or a FAL, weapons designed to put down HUMANS.

But for gun control:
I feel that guns may be dangerous but they cannot be fully eradicated.

Its like texting and Alcohol while driving. You may ban it but random people (mostly idiots) will still do it even after spending jail time.

Its also going to be like an alcohol ban like in the 1920s where there are alcohol cartels but with guns instead.

we realise that, but if its a "crime" to have it outside, your gonna have to at least hide it, and actually "look" suspicious. Currently you can just waltz around with a hand grenade and a m16. Which youtubers are now doing often to get views, meaning they feel unable to even confront those who clearly are murderers - or if not murderers - clearly in poor mental state that may cause them to do "unreasonable" things

I ask, if they are humiliating a cop for stopping them with that, in the back ground some one else walks into a city building with a gun - cops now too scared that they will react again if he confronts them

What we are saying is we realise there is no "getting rid of them", but stricter controls. They shouldnt be in the hands of any tom dick and harry, and shouldnt be seen as acceptable outside of "controlled" environments

The simple fact is, a legel owner buys a gun. Hes fine, hes controlled, hes behaving. But hes had it ten years now, hes not so careful anymore about locking it up, nor is there any reason he "needs" it anyway

But... his 14 year old kid whos just discovered drugs and alcohol is suddenly going throug ha bit of a depressive stage and gets hold of that gun. The parent did nothing wrong other than be a bit careless. The "only" solution - is remove the gun from the equasion entirely

Trem pointed this out with the stats, its 1000x worse in the USA, than those countries operating gun control, imo, they should be in the hands of professionals, used only in defence, and nothing else. Not home protection, because your asking for people to use that as a "excuse", or for it to fall into the wrong hands

The human race has, always will and is perfectly capable of surviving without guns. Although ofc i agree to extent that the military and police may need access to them. Not hunters who could stop hunting and go to wall mart or enthusiasts who reguarly brag about their guns on social media
