Celtic Ruins by Fracture Studios
 
   Being the first zombie map produced by Fracture Studios, We wanted to make something different... We wanted a map that has a certain "uneasiness" about it that makes you feel uncomfortable. Taking place after a German Zeppelin crashed during take off, the nuclear warhead on board detonated and completely obliterated the city of Lübeck. You and possibly a group of comrades are sent in to the city to look for any survivors. Going into the city with a car, you soon find out that auto mobiles will not be the most suitable form of transportation in this destroyed city, so you decide to walk on foot. Discovering the survivors have turned into these.. things.

November 1st, 1941; Beginning of the “Mechanical Advancement”
Northern Germany - Lubeck

“Mistakes are our greatest invention, but also our greatest downfall…”
-Dr.Westbrook Head Investigation Scientist of Group 935, 1936

WWII has begun, and groups of all sorts are preparing for a “World-Wide” war. Development in discovery and weaponry has spread like wildfire, mainly in germany at the time. A secret german organization known as “Group 935” has uncovered information beyond expectations. The power source uncovered by the germans is element 115, well contained, well observed, well weaponized at least for now...

The germans main concern was dominance, in any way possible. Transportation for instance. The Zeppelin prototype mk5 was a german blimp deployed as an aerial gunship during WWI. At around 1918, the blimp was shot down on its tow of defeat back to Germany. Only some recorded information and blueprints remain obtainable, and Germany wanted to re-deploy it in a more “updated” way using their newfound power source 115. 115 contains mass amounts of power that can be manipulated in almost any way. Along with other upgrades to newer weaponry, the Zeppelin Model MK15 was its 1st success as an updated version of its origin in 1942.

April 10th, 1942; A few months after the events of Pearl Harbor.

115’s capabilities are being used to mass distribute weapons for Germany’s dominance now that America has joined the battle. And the “Project Zeppelin” is now being rushed into play. The newer version of the blimp has been vaguely tested and needs more time. The Nazi military needed it ASAP. New features have been added to the MK15, including a 115 powered engine being able to run for 3 months without having to be refueled, more storage space making it able to be used as transport, and upgraded weapons. During the time of this development that Group 935 has done, the Nazi Party has been working on a nuclear warhead that was said to destroy 100 sq miles of land using 115. Its location was to be armed in the United States, but needed transport worthy of such a weapon.

May 1st, 1942; Current location: Northern Germany, Lubeck

The Zeppelins 115 engine wasn't too stable, but due to time it was acknowledged as a non-noticeable error. The warhead was ready to be escorted to the US. Its location was to be armed near New York and Pennsylvania. Word on the street was it was going to blow up a secret overrun facility that was abandoned by Group 689 (Another association used to develop research for 115) as a coverup. Many common soldiers wondered what it was overrun by. Some thought it was Americans, others thought it was Russians, but in the end - it was neither. A side-effect can arise from 115’s power, being able to reanimate dead cells and soon entire corpses making them uncontrollable creatures or in this case “un-dead”. This effect was hidden from the Nazi Party so budget would not be cut to Group 935 as budget is already running low due to less advancement to 115. The blimp was planned to be “operational” in 4 days.

May 5th, 1942; The Zeppelins takeoff is about to take place at one of 935’s research facilities in Lubeck
The warhead that was loaded on the MK15 was as protected as possible, being put behind bullet-proof plexiglass and guarded by its escort soldiers of 70 nazis. About 300 german soldiers were at the launch of the blimp. Hosting the departure was Dr.Westbrook, Head Investigation Scientist and leader of “Project Zeppelin”

May 5th, 1942; (12:25 a.m. US standard time)
Dr.Westbrook (Group 935)

In about 5 minutes I will be mounted on the main podium. My speech is just about in-line and i'm not as nervous as I was during the last few days. I still object to the Fuhrer classifying the engine mishap as “an unnoticeable error”. I understand that the nuke needs proper transportation, but the Gunship is just not ready. There is a 75% chance of some sort of failure, which is more than likely to endanger the protection of the warhead. I tried to tell them this but they would simply ignore my warning. In this case, if the damage doesn’t kill me - my officers will. But, I should look on the bright side of our protection! Im sure it will be fine, 5 inches of standard plexiglass is covering a nuke - nothing can break through that! All the officers are straight up blödmann…

 After the speech, the blimp was ready to take off. Crane cables lifted the Gunship as it started to levitate. As planned, the cables departed from the Zeppelin leaving it able to be controlled by the pilot. But, one cable was stuck to its loop on the blimp, it was cut off due to force and a spark emerged traveling down the scaffolding of the blimp stopping the propellers from spinning for 2 seconds. The engine could not handle the small malfunction and went blank. Soon the 115 overcame the engines control and broke free. The medium blast radius inside the blimp injured 4 nazis who required help. the plexiglass shattered due to the energy, and soon violently reacted with the warhead. People on the outside noticed the malfunction and began to panic and flee, but it was too late. The nuke went off not only destroying the whole city within 12 seconds, but exposed mass amounts of 115 throughout the area. The Fuhrer was almost immediately contacted and sent 600 foot soldiers and 100 vehicles to secure the location, now obliterated…

May 15th, 1942; A little over a week of “minor containment”

Germany managed to close off the surroundings of the blast with outposts and blockades. 90% of the inside has not been touched ever since, giving time for 115 to spread all over the city - infecting the remains of “people”. Spies of all kinds have uncovered this information as well as more information on 115 itself...

May 22nd, 1942; Current location: Under the blast zone of Northern Lubeck…

Not many civilians survived the repercussions of the nuke’s failure. The ones that did escaped to a known bomb shelter in the northeastern part of Lubeck. Small portions of nazis, scientists, and civilians quarantined in the location. The shelter was owned by the Fuhrer, but partially given to group 935. Before the nuke went off, tests took place underground. During the time of the experiments, 935 developed a failed attempt to create a “over-average” type of specimen. Its mental state was poorly acknowledged - leaving it to go berserk during tests. It soon had to be contained since it was too strong to put down. Its main features leave it mutated and infected with toxin and 115. The subjects main purpose was to be used as front-line defense on the battlefield. Another type of weapon was also developed - a gas converted chemical of 115 to be used in chemical warfare. The scientific name for the chemical converted 115 is Uventoxiclorfen (Uvin-toxi-clorfan) or “Lethal Toxic Chemical”. Just as 115 was contained in the labs, it was sealed in special canisters - “Proxified Air Canisters”. During weeks worth of reconstruction, all attention from Group 935 was focused on hiding signs of an “outbreak”. In inner-uninspected depths of the city, walking corpses have been cited by patrol feasting on dead organisms. None have been seen up-close, but can still be identified. 935 officers inform the people to only take aggressive defense when needed, otherwise STAY AWAY!

May 30th, 1942; 8 days after underground inhabitants in the shelter.

The main blockades of the city have been completely contaminated, and 935’s main concerns for this have been ignored by the Nazi Party due to battle with the Soviet Union. Many german soldiers have been overran by the infected. Soon, the underground facility was breached - and consumed by the undead. Huge amounts of 115 and Uventoxiclorfen was released. Also during the underground survivor’s final stand, containment of the mutant was released. Now being able to lurk the bunkers un-imprisoned. In case of emergency - if Uventoxiclorfen has been exposed, scientists and soldiers are required to wear C.B.M’s or “Compressed Breaching Masks”. The masks can withstand the harmful chemical if well protected. After about a day, the main facility was overrun, as well as most of the on-surface outposts and buildings in the city. Allies of the Soviet Union are now well into their investigation in Lubeck...

   We have many features to this map to keep you wanting to play. The map is highly detailed and very well thought out. Having much of it taking place underground in a massive subway system, we made sure that there was no shortage of being above ground. We try to make our map have very intricate terrain and dynamic settings, and so far it has turned out great. We feel this map will go far and many will enjoy. This map looks ridiculously professional, and highly detailed. I also love the layout I can see in the zoomed out image. Have you ported over any custom weapons or perks yet?

This is the second 'group' made map to be added to the WIP here in a matter of weeks after Arrival. It is definitely an extremely exciting time for the custom community.

I will follow this closely. Great work so far.
    We have indeed ported models from Black Ops 2 over to the map, from Tranzit, Mob of the Dead and Origins. We do have all of the guns from Black ops 2, however we only plan on using some because we are still trying to go for the 1940's look. Along with that we have Vulture Aid, Electric Cherry and Wunder Fizz, however we are afraid some perks may have to be left out for file size reasons and errors while compiling. We cant wait to release the map to the public, but until then check back for updates on the map. Thanks for all the support and the compliment.

I agree with that statement, I also love to see mappers team up and make these awesome maps. It makes for fast production and better mapping, especially when you have a great mapper but not so great at scripting. Well you get the point. Anyways I look forward to playing this. Thank you for giving us this info about the map that you guys are making. I may have to go and check your youtube channel out :)
