I get this error when the game almost loads, after hitting key to start, if I try to launch the game from launcher now since I changed my gpu and updated my drivers.
New gpu is:

I'm using dukips launcher, but also tried with original. I can launch it from steam without issues.

Reinstall your drivers and set both launchers to use High-Performance GPU in your GPU settings.

Oh damn, you picked REALLY bad time to do a GPU upgrade. If I was you(if you even can), I'd get a refund. The new generation of GPUs that will be coming out here in a few months from both Nvidia and AMD are going to blow everything that's currently out there clear out of the water for the same or even less.

^This. Most likely a driver issue. I wouldn't think the GPU performance level would matter though. It should automatically ramp to full clock speeds when the game puts a good enough load on the GPU.

Figured it out... sort of.
I uninstalled something called Raptr and also Vulkan, but I think Raptr was causing the issue. They installed with the new AMD program that runs the gpu. Now I can start from launcher again. I thought of it when trying to check settings I found Raptr, ran it, and then waw crashed even when launching through steam.

Raptr is just the AMD equivelent to NVIDIA's Geforce Expierence. Allows in-game screen capture, game settings tweaks for your GPU, etc. Not required for anything


Vulkan is the successor to OpenGL API(a competitor to DirextX API). Any game that uses Vulkan for rendering MUST have this installed on the driver side or the game will not work unless it has some kind of OpenGL or DirectX switch.

I just upgraded my gpu too I found a Gigabyte GTX 970 on Criagslist for $245. Had to drive an hour but the thing is great.

I was also glad WaW worked without issues for me. I know Jbird had some issues with a new gpu as well

Oh yeah, you know what kind of issues? Cause turns out that removing those programs only half fixed it. I still need steam running and sometimes it still crashes when I use launcher, just not every single time now.

I also had some issues when initially installing this gpu with flickering lines across the screen any time I moved my mouse. It was fine in game, but if the cursor could actually move across the screen it flickered all over. Updating everything seems to have fixed that. But it still blacks out all my screens from time to time, then 3 seconds later they come back on. It happened one night 3 times, but I haven't seen it happen since. It's kind of like when you switch from 3 screens to all 1 eyefinity black screen.

I am going to take it out and re-seat it, then I am going to reinstall drivers, and then I am going to put bo3 on max settings to see if I can break it, or cause those issues again, so I can return this one before it is too late.

On a side note, and I think this card is supposed to do this, the fans rev every so often. They don't run at all, and then then do, really high rpms. Temps never get to 70 even, usually down under 63.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. It came with a cd that did something similar to this, started me out on low res and installed the new drivers. But I still had issues until I updated the AMD catalyst to radeon whatever it is now, where those issues went away. Maybe if I do this again with the new one already installed it will help...

Don't use the drivers supplied with the box. Download the new official drivers also when you do that go through updating all of your DirectX. (Each game just run their installer.)

Iirc jbird just can't use t4m without a crash despite the fact his card is high end

We have same card and it works fine for me, except texture bug on higher settings, lol

yeah, I think that is what happened when I updated to AMD Radeon. I'm running the latest now, I checked their site. I will do some reinstalling tonight.

Update: I removed everything and reinstalled everything, but still had to remove raptr to get it to stop crashing.
