Hey, random dicsussion here. I'm always on my computer even with people around and they always ask what im doin and stuff, and i explain the whole thing and how its just for fun and stuff. The number one thing they say: Can you sell it?  then i proceed to say no but they keep asking why and shit. Now im wondering: What do your guys's friends/family say about it

My dad didn't approve lol. But my mother was 100% supportive. My brothers thought it was cool. My sister was also supportive. My friends

Never showed my parents my mapping. I don't find it good enough to show anyone. Certainly not anything to brag about. My modeling I let my brother see and that's it, but that's out of circumstance since he comes in and grabs things he thinks are his. I did show my mom my modeling once. It was a tnt plunger I was just doing for lolz and she thought I was being recruited by ISIS or something  . Yeah. They don't get to see anything but the finished product now.

So.............. everyone.

Everytime my mom sees me on my PC, she says "what are you doin?"  So I proceed to show and tell her then she asks some questions and I explain "modding" and then she's just like "ok" and walks away. Then the very next day, she'll say "what are you doing?" again, and I'll say "the same thing I was working on yesterday". Then she says "what was that again?"... Every. Single . Time. 

I showed my dad one time and he was actually impressed. Probably just because he saw it as a opportunity as a carrere in the future. Which suprised me because he's ususlly against me being on my PC at all, until he realized that I was doing something "semi-constructive."

I showed my sister and she's like "ok, I don't care".

My friends think it's really cool, but not many of them actually play WaW, so they don't really have a reason to care lol.

Well parents, my mother was visited for Christmas and I was working on my map,
She asked about it, I explained. Then she proceed as vinnys friends and family
"So do you sell them? Why not? You could make do much money though!"
After spending ten minutes explaining all the reasons you can't get paid for it
(Except contests of course) I just gave up and went back to mapping.

Dad thought it was cool, he plays games and was actually himself involved in modding in Quake, etc. so he kinda gets it, Mom, well she gave me the whole "looks cool" but really it's (wtf is he talking about??), as for friends, they asked if I could make a map where you can go up where the zombies don't get you..

well anyone who knows me or has met me knows that i am not a normal person by any means. so going by how much of a fucked up person that i am. the ones that brought me into existence are my parents and they are not normal by any means. so when i showed some stuff i was making in maya to my dad the first thing he asked was when i was going to start making 3D porn and my mom asked if i could use it to 3D print. so i was like yeah i can and well she asked if i was ever up to it to i would be print her some stuff. my sister didn't really care but she was interested in the animation part of it. my friends thought it was awesome and well most of them weren't surprised at all. in fact after i started working on stuff in maya and radiant, I was told directly to my face "hey when you make it big make sure you remember who i am." by some guy in my graduating class on the day of graduation.

My wife just thinks its a odd obsession due to the fact it takes large amounts of time. As much as you can argue either way there, the fact remains, nothing to do with this, can be done quickly

I had already been involved in the modding scene though, mainly on TES and Source.
CoD had so many advantages regarding the mapping tools that I switched over and stuck to it.
