I know this might make a noob but I am having trouble getting World at War to work properly on my PC without a lot of lag so I can play custom zombie maps and eventually make new maps. Can anyone help with this?

Unfortunately just because your PC meets the minimum specs doesn't mean you will run the game well. Ideally your PC should exceed the RECOMMENDED requirements, not just the minimum requirements.

Your graphics card does not meet the recommended requirements:
-DX9: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT or better). DX10: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or better

edit: I would also recommend dumping vista.

With that 2 GB RAM, you're not gonna have a good time on any games really. Especially since WaW on Vista needs 1 GB of RAM. That processor could use an upgrade as well, that's like 2.0ghz whilst WaW needs 3.0 at least.
You do meet the minimum requirements though. 

Agreed with Treminaor, lose Vista.

Vista (as i have bean told) was just a cheap BETA Version of Windows 7, and really i havn't seen anything to disprove that ether.

it's a long shot, but using a flash drime or external hard drive for readyboost might help a little bit.

If nothing else Try Gboost (not gamebooster or w/e) which will reduce the ammount of ram that is used Via extra graphics, and will rid of extra programs that arn't needed.

ALSO defrag you system often, as well as delete cache from both browsers and from everyday computer stuff.

This is how i manage to Play the game, still don't get 60 FPS but it really helps.

Turning FX off might help a little too, same with fog.

replace your CPU with the intel i7, replace ram with at least 4GB and change graphics card wit gtx560 and you will run waw good

"the" intel i7??  I suggest just getting a quad core i5, thats fully enough for all games that are out today. For a gfx a 460gtx or a 470gtx would be more than enough already.

Are you capable of assembling a computer from a shipment of parts? Or do you need a prebuilt desktop? What's your max price range?

I would probably have to have it prebuilt as I have built one from the ground up. I would say my max price range would be $900ish

I would invest on getting a custom built pc but if money is abit tight play it on its lowest settings?
