Let's say I want to change the firing sound of the Colt M1911. How would I go about doing that?

Either use a weapon editor or use some other text editor or dukips weapon to gdt to get the weapon file to an editable program. Then locate the fireSound and change that to an alias you have created or one you want.

If you want to change any gun sounds open waw/ mods / yourmapname / weapon / sp / name of weapon, edit using notepad++ if you do not have notepad++ i recommend downloading that sorry i havent got a link, The reason i say use notepad ++ is it is easier to view weapon files in but you can use notepad, Ctrl + F to search for firesound then change that section to the sound you require

i recommend doing it the way makecents said to do it. UGX weapon editor works great when it comes to viewing weap files.

i recommend look at the file for yourself and understand scripts but hey whatever u could just do the copy and paste cheap way by using the weapon editor, i have never used the weapon editor and succesfully changed and modded all my guns so its just personal choice maybe try both ways if u like

its not a "script" its just a text file full of values. Both ways are ultimately the same except the ugx editor has a actual interface...

nothing "cheap" about using tools that were designed for the very purpose of making these things easier...


could say "you should do the - proper way - and use the Asset Manager"...

Replace fireSound with your third person sound (the one that's not _plr for example, SPECIFICALLY sound is mono) and replace fireSoundPlayer with your first person sound (the one that IS _plr for example, SPECIFICALLY sound is stereo)
