yea its hard to detect when someone melees, theres a "isMeleeing()" but no "notify" that im aware of
makes it tricky to get around
MeleeButtonPressed(), though that doesn't necessarily mean they do melee - say for instance they are holding a grenade and press the melee button, they don't melee but the function would still get called.

Is there no function for checking if player is holding grenade?

Don't understand why you're going with this method when all you have to do is just use the same names as the bowie.

You can override xanims in your mod folder? I didn't know this.
pretty sure the two use the same anims dont they?

I think the sickle has slightly different anims, but you could probably get away with the normal melee anims yeh.
Im not sure about that, tehy defo do the exact same flourish, only the sounds differ
any difference is likely prob the bowie "and" sickle anims slightly edited in BO1 or something

But there are actual sickle xanims, so I'd assume they must be different. And the bowie uses the normal melee anims, it doesn't have it's own anims.
