yea its hard to detect when someone melees, theres a "isMeleeing()"  but no "notify" that im aware of

makes it tricky to get around
MeleeButtonPressed(), though that doesn't necessarily mean they do melee - say for instance they are holding a grenade and press the melee button, they don't melee but the function would still get called.

Is there no function for checking if player is holding grenade?
There is: IsThrowingGrenade() but the point was that there are many cases where the player might not be knifing when they press the melee button. I just threw an example out there.

Another example is pressing the melee button mutiple times during the melee animation, as it picks up each one

i also found that waittill( "weapon_fired" ) picks up melee too, which complicates it even further

Did you guys resolve the animation thing on leviathan in the end?

You could also try ForceViewmodelAnimation

I do the dual wields with this and two weapon files, two different ways. One way I switch to the weapon, which is the alt weapon (better way I think) and use ads to fire by force, and the other I just force the fire anim without switching, but reload isn't as pretty and I lost a raise or lower anim, but perhaps not applicable to what you are doing. The weapon files need work to get timing right, and it requires scripting. This method is also how I do my "special" reloads.
You may be able to achieve different anims another way. I force another weapons reload anim (alt weapon here) on the m1216  I made, which gives it more reload animation options, which you may be able to do to modify the animation of the knife/sickle? idk. In theory I would think you could have many different fire anims, one per weapon file, and actually randomly chose the one you want for variety.

You could also use an item instead but force it to fire when you press the item button. Or just make it an item and use it normal, like requiem did.

Don't understand why you're going with this method when all you have to do is just use the same names as the bowie.

Pro-tip: override them in mods and not from raw

You can override xanims in your mod folder? I didn't know this.
pretty sure the two use the same anims dont they?

I think the sickle has slightly different anims, but you could probably get away with the normal melee anims yeh.

Im not sure about that, tehy defo do the exact same flourish, only the sounds differ

any difference is likely prob the bowie "and" sickle anims slightly edited in BO1 or something

it has a flourish at least

it may have its own, but i still reckon they are the same, other than maybe the note tracks, really looks exactly the same to me

Actually there are bowie anims, I'm confused now. OTW overwrote the bowie anims to make the galvas. But we also had to change the normal melee anims for some reason. I'll get him to come on here and clarify what he did lol.
