This has been driving me nuts recently, some dynamic lights seem to disappear when you get close to them and then reappear as you walk away in certain areas of the map. I was told dynamic lights further than 500 units from 0,0,0 do this (or just over 500 units above or below 0, but I tested this and it doesn't seem to be the case) but that is a ridiculously small area I find this hard to believe, also in some spots dynamic lights work in areas that are further away than that.

Is there any fix for this?

This is no answer, only that I also use them, and in my map, they are thousands of units above and away from 0, and I don't think I have ever experienced that, that I know of. Do you have video?

lol, wow, that seems on purpose almost. That isn't set up on a trigger or anything? And does it do this without using noclip... I assume it does. Are you using blunts tut, I'll check mine again and see if it does this, I may have too much sun to even notice.

btw, I did get a glowing gun affect from them once with spec maps on. Not glowing so much but really shiny.

Does it not only in this area, or this map, happened on Oil Rig and I.E. too, it's not a trigger or from noclip. It definitely seems connected to distance as I managed to fix some in a prefab I was moving around but break others nearby that were previously working just by moving the prefab around trying to find a 'sweet spot'. CHN told me it's an engine thing and about the 500 units, but it definitely doesn't seem as simple as that, as like you say in some areas that are definitely more than 500 units away still work but others don't. There must be some logic to it.

This is the COD engine we're talking about. :please:
Could it be because the lights are dynamic that they're disappearing? Also, are you using BO1 radiant because, if so, this might be a better question for almighty bae se2.

Well obviously, that's the whole problem lol. But I think you and MakeCents may have been confused by the terminology, by dynamic lights I mean standard spotlights with info nulls, not fancy moving/scripted ones or anything.

Anyway I have somewhat (not in the area in the vid though) fixed this in some places by moving it closer to 0 on the Z axis, but it's still not perfect, one or 2 lights still act like this. ::)

Yeah, I was confused.

Any chance it's Sun related since moving seems to affect it? You're not using the sky light grid by any chance? I assume it doesn't do this when you don't use the node, but you don't want to use those. Have you considered using an fx instead?

These are just guesses, sorry.

FX doesn't have the same light quality or look as a spotlights, but now I'm having another (much worse) problem with dynamic lights...:-\

These fucked up shadow lines even show on models so it's nothing to do with lightmapping the textures or w/e, and it wasn't like this before. I fucking hate WAW. :poker:

Edit: And I've tried everything I can think of to fix it with no luck.

Edit Edit: Both these issues go away if you turn off shadows in the settings lol, but then you don't have shadows. :poker:
