        Hello UGX-Mods, I am DrainEMmax and this is the first post I have made. But don't think I will let you down just because it is my first post. I am making a map called UGX Mod The Beast. This is my first map I have ever made, but have been using Radinant for a few of months now, so I know what I am doing. Please give me some feedback on this map and give me some tips or pointers. Also, don't tell me it is bad, because remember, this is my first map, but definitely feel free to leave some constructive criticism. This is a map that I have been working on for a while now and am excited to finally make a post about it. You may been wondering why I waited so long to post a topic about this map and that is because I made about 20% of it today and was working on it from 9 in the morning to 8 at night. I have not added much of the detail yet, but I started, so if you know of any models that would look good in different places throughout the map please tell me. If you have any improvements that you think I should please tell me, I want to make my first map to the best of my ability! ;D

For starters you did the right thing by using the UGX Mod, the map looks pretty basic but maybe you nail the fun factor perfectly it's just hard to tell from pictures. I'd love to help test the map if you release a beta. Keep mappin' bro and don't be afraid to get creative and take chances with unique level design. The map Dale's Dock utilized multiple levels and the ability to open some doors and not others depending on how you wanted to work your strategy and I think it paid of bigtime for him.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it looks like you just started with the sniperbolt tutorial map file and added more rooms and moved the perk machines around. The YouTube channel advertising on the gamemode screen could stand to be rethought - it's pretty distracting and makes the gamemode text hard to read since it's text on top of text. The text you added to the top left of the main menu image will be cut off if your user is playing on a 4:3 resolution - I suggest moving it farther towards the center. To see what I mean, change your resolution in-game to 1024x768.

All in all, your WIP post is very professional and is exactly what we like to see here. I agree with tomikaze that you've made a wise decision to use UGX Mod in your map ;) I think with a bit more originality on the map layout this will turn out to be a very fun map. Good luck, and remember - have fun above all else.

Thanks, and yeah it is pretty basic. I would love to do something such as Dale's Dock, but I lack skill in radiant, not to say I can't make a good map, so I can not fully utilize all of radiant's features. As I map I will pick up on some of the more advanced mapping features and hopefully by the time my second map comes around, it will be better, and I will build up my skill until I could make a map like Dale's Dock. Also the creator of Dale's Dock definitely did an amazing job. Also, I was trying to look, but couldn't find it, what is the model for stairs?

Thanks for the tips I will definitely apply them and about starting with the sniperbolt tutorial map file, that is what I did, as I used script placer and I thought as I get used to radiant I should use this as a base for my map and build upon it. Is this allowed or no? Because if it is not I am sorry and will try to change the map layout, although I am not very skilled.  :poker: Thanks for encouraging me to keep on mapping and expand my knowledge of radiant.

There's no rule against it, it's just been done by a lot of people. And since it's been done so many times, it's a very recognizable layout. I can understand wanting to base off of a working map to keep things working, but I would delete all the walls and floors etc from sniperbolt's map and replace it with something of your own :)

Updated the menu screen and the loadscreen which were both tested to work with 1024x768!

Well it doesn't look like your trying too hard. Try pressing I>Backspace and then make some terrain and add some decals + Models and actually work on a map layout with different areas with different features in them that make it interesting to the player.
