Like the title says, I don't know if i can make it more clear. I tried changing the surface type of model phong materials and converted them a million times but they don't seem to change in game. Any ideas?

Add the collision LOD and after changing the material type you have to recompile the map
the models already have collision LOD. i was too lazy to set the surface type for each material so i made all of them metal. but now when i change the surface type and reconvert the materials and compile the map, the models still have metal effect upon being shot.

You're probably compiling the wrong FF. If it's a model in your map you need to recompile your map. If it's a model you have NOT used in your map and instead have included in a separate CSV for precaching purposes, you have to recompile that specific FF. If the model is in your map AND included from another CSV you have to recompile your map and the other CSV's FF.

TL;DR; recompile all FFs loaded by the map to ensure the model will get refreshed. Recompiling the models will reload all related materials.
