You know, the more I think about this the more I feel like a good fun experience is its own reward. So, you play through a map, open everything up, buy all your perks, PAP some guns, solve the EE and then...what? You've just exhausted the map, what could the mapper give us at that point that would really blow us away? I think that if the map offers an enjoyable experience, looks good, has a fun EE and the last step ends the map then that should be enough. And if it's not, then maybe there is something wrong with us. How do you all feel about that?
I see where you are coming from, and definitely think you are right to an extent.
I have been playing a lot of Origins recently, and that is mainly down to abandoning the map completely on the 4th day of release after completing the EE because I was completely turned off by the map.
As a story enthusiast, I felt the direction Origins took from a storyline POV was awful. It contradicted so much and put us in an over the top, unrealistic scenario. I also felt the end sequence was a slap in the face of all those in the community who actually helped mold this storyline into what it is now.
Looking past that, the EE itself is actually not as bad as I first thought, but it IS still a chore, and is still somewhat unrewarding. The upgraded fists are pointless because the knifing system is so poor in BO2 that it renders them dangerous to use. It was a bitter finale when compared with Moon, and I think they could have also done away with the already used 'End-Game' choice.
Looking back at the EE's in BO2, they were all more or less undervalued by in-game features.
Tranzit EE was very short and unsatisfying. Reward was a random perk drop that was devalued by the fact that they were easily obtainable in-game.
Die Rise EE was not too bad, but it made no sense... at all! Reward was all the perks, though not permanent, and was also devalued by the fact these perks were easily obtainable in the Nova Crawler rounds
MotD EE was very different to the norm. Again, it was short and unrewarding, but had for the first time, an end game option and also rewarded the player with a series of weapons throughout the steps.
Buried EE was fun enough to do, and the reward of permanent perk was good, but again was someone devalued by the persistent Tombstone perk. End game box was again somewhat rewarding, but it all felt predictable.
I was hoping Origins reward would have been unlocking a bonus map or game mode. Something epic to end the series. I did not expect the same end game as MotD.

The problem with the EE's on BO2, is that no one ever wants to do them. Even when I play Origins with randoms, they just want to do up to the staffs and no more.
They could easily have added better rewards to the end game box also. Maybe allowing it to be triggered on either of the new four's maps. I would love to have had 4 guns and a permanent fire sale on Tranzit or Die Rise.
