(Maya) Viewmodel not appearing in hands correctly when I drag a tanim on?

Not sure if this is the right section to post, but im trying to do the death machine spin up as per Tom's tutorial, however when I come to drag the tanim (converted straight from BO) onto the scene, the hands appear too far forward into the model:




Sorry the picture doesn't show it better but you can see the hands are out of place, it is like this on every gun/scene/anim I try, even when trying to drag the idle anim on first. Also I don't know how to change the perspective properly (alt+click doesn't help) as the grid is at an angle as you can see (and im still new to maya)

If anyone could help that would be great :)

About the right hand being too far back: That's normal, you won't be able to see the back of the gun. The left hand looks in place imo.

The hands aren't holding the handle, like they are in the tutorial video. It happens with any gun, hands are about 1ft too far forwards

I had this happen to me; try re-installing the t-anim plug-ins, that fixed it for me.

this happens to me if i "open scene" rather than just "dragging it on" too

the view is always changed 90 degrees, then i have to go googling to find out how to put it back again...

I never close maya now, got so fed up with doing that and forgetting how to put it back to normal lol

I assumed as it was just perspective it wouldnt matter, but it did... lol not sure why, but it did
