First it looks like you don't have a closed skybox, make a hollow box around your whole map with all faces caulk except the inside brushes, which will be any sky texture you want. Also you don't have any structural brushes that have an in-game visible texture like bricks, plaster, etc.

i have both actually. kind of busy atm to post screenshots, but all of my map(s) have lightgrid, AND textures.

Very wierd, and you're positive you have the right map/mod selected, no lead in your skybox, etc. Also I would just redo your skybox to make sure.
