I know how to port weapons... But I don't have the games/tools necessary for bo3, and I still wanted to add some good guns to my map... Plus he said he was letting anybody use his assets so I figured i would ask. I'm not trying to be a dick about it but I dont think i did anything wrong...

Regardless of what the mapper said, you shouldn't be trying to get assets from other cod games for free.

Activision is currently not enforcing their policy on ripping game assets and appears to be allowing ripped assets to be packaged with custom maps & mods. We speculate that the reasoning behind this is that since Activision own all custom community maps & mods per their Mod Tools EULA agreement, Activision own the content within these maps & mods. Since their ownership of the content is maintained, they are not treating it as a violation.
However, Activision is currently enforcing their intellectual property rights (posting ripped content for public download). When you distribute Activision's property outside of a map or mod package, it does not fall under their Mod Tools EULA which means you are distributing content you do not own - whether its compiled or not. This is illegal and we cannot allow it on the forum. Any topics which post links to content downloads will be removed and treated as piracy.

Can we stop this bullshit? Most everyone who has a buddy with "assets" that they don't have gets them from him as opposed to going through the same process. Why can't you or an admin just PM this guy and say, "hey man, even though everyone does this and we really don't care you just can't do it publicly."
