I've been working on trying to figure out why some people have texture issues with ORBiT. Several people have found that changing your texture settings to anything but extra helps and turning off spec maps helps. While testing this I noticed that I cannot apply/change my texture settings without freezing waw, but only in ORBiT. I'm just at the main menu, and I it still crashes. I think the issues could be related, so if I can fix this, perhaps others won't have the other issues anymore.

What is happening when you hit apply that could be freezing waw, but only on ORBiT? So far I've tried several things that were giving me issues upon release like deleting large chunks of the map and splitting iwds and downsizing images, but none of that seems to have any affect.

I've set the r_picmip...s manually in console and everything is fine that way. But executing r_applyPicmip crashes.

Also, turning normal down to high has fixed the crashing when loading, but I would really like to just fix it so it can play on extra if I can, if I know why it's doing it anyway.

Nah, not using t4m, and it's only this map. I've tried others with and without t4m, and they are fine. I just need to figure out what it's doing... Like, if it is going through images or something, and the fix would be less images, or something else?

I mean, I'm just at main menu, nothing's loaded in game yet, so why would it crash?

My cod did that old resets everything to default including my buttons thing tonight, and now everything is fine. W... T... F

I can apply settings on ORBiT now. After a few times, times, it broke again.

I noticed it wasn't working while I was using a video recording software and I had some video memory errors that crashed a few times. Not sure if any of this is helpful.

Could be some settings that cause it to break who knows

Menu settings crashing is not an issue with just Orbit. Seems to be something related to DVAR or profile data being set wrongly as deleting or resetting profile stuff fixes it. No clue as to why this is.


In-game is a different story. Not an expert on graphics or rendering but if I had to guess its because the game failed to reload assets back into memory.

Thanks guys. I'll keep messing with it. I think it could be related to my new gpu too. I loaded my laptop and it didn't have any issues, and neither did I before, I think.

Before the reset, I could get the texture glitch. Now it fixed itself., and I'm playing on all extra
