Why is it that everyone seems to have multiple monitors? It's hard to keep looking from a screen to the other.

Well firstly we dont need to be constantly looking between them, they are there for convenience mostly, I for one often have videos playing on one, maya on another and my scripts open on the other

Then theres multiscreen gaming, which if you tried it, im sure would change your mind. Being able to see the other two out the corner of your eye is plenty, not a complete head turn

But its also handy for things like radiant, I stretch mine across 2 screens, 3d view on one, 2d view the other, asset viewer on the 3rd

also means while im playing i can see my skype without alt - tabbing which some games seem to despise

Once or twice ive had a movie going on one, while i work on another, to entertain someone with me at the time

Then for people like me, handy to keep chat open where i can see it with out interferring with what im doing

They come in extremely handy if you do an awful lot of dev stuff, as often youll have so many programs open it becomes tiresome trying to find what your after lol

Also when i said a while ago in chat, people think im not there when i am, coz im playing guitar, and cant stop to answer. Usually a song is only like 3 minutes and they are gone by then lol. My point here is that i have chat open on another screen, so i can keep my eye on it and see if people call me etc

Also very handy for video editing, or monitoring statistics of how your pc is performing while you do something else

I realise from outside it just seems like a novelty, but its actually very very useful, and im yet to experience any neck pain lol

before i could afford the monitors i just had the second linked to my tv, which was on the wall above to the left, but i bought the monitors not long after as admitadly that was a little inconvenient

saying that i can barely fit these on my desk now lol, you can get monitor "frames" which you can screw the screens onto, so the base does not get in your way ( for me it means my keyboard has to be on the very edge, so i need to get one of these one day ), they are usually movable too, on like "claw arms" that have support for more than just one screen for lack of a better description, which can be even more handy.

Its worth doing if you come across a bargain on monitors or graphics cards tho

Also you don't need a 27" 4k monitor for your secondary, as I've mostly got skype/chat/ts running on it I'm using an old 4:3 which shouldn't cost more than 30-40$.

yea, any size is fine, but same size is much better ( and efficiant ) for multiscreen gaming

but for anything non gaming, no need to match really

even then its preference i guess, i know people who use a tv and a screen

I use my left monitor for chat and music (pandora, youtube, etc, obs)
Middle is my tv (Not computer monitor)
Right is used for capture software, and twitter/social media.


It's all just a convenience to have, not required.

Very true, especially for me when doing Maya stuff and 2 open or messing with soundaliases and having 2 Excel windows open, definitely makes things easy.

Every item on that desk is in use all the time, theres a cup, my smoking stuff, and wires - wires that are left expoesed coz i constantly need to swap em over when i play guitar

no wrappers, no rubbish, no dirt? thank you very much

this is not fully set up in my game room.

right side under the desk building a desktop to be able to use to 3 monitors  i name the desktop Phoenix God
4 laptop for if guy like to play zombie the the game room

this is not the full setup has a lot more stuff at the plug in
all laptops and desktop  have i7 to I-5 and dedicated video
                               consoles
2# xbox 360
and
2#  ps3
1# GameCube
1# Old Mod Xbox
1# Mod Ps2
and lot more in boxes
