Honestly, they're going to disappoint a lot of fans with this move. The reasons they've put in the third paragraph don't justify anything at all, it's just lazy. It's even worse that they would call it "wasted time".

Seriously, they didn't even give any prior warning! What kind of developer puts so much effort into something, creates such a huge hype train, then cancels at a moments notice? I wanted that fucking Charizard god dammit!

they seem to have a habit of buying my favourite game studios, cutting 90% of the next planned games plot and development time

then when disappointed by poor sales, destroying the company and locking down the rights to that game


lol funny thing is origins staff knew the score. In Ultima 7 they dropped loads of hints at the fact they hated being part of EA

Bad guys were called "Elizabeth and Abraham" - EA - all the generators that were disrupting the land were shaped from EAs logos, a whole bunch of other things too

Loads more, and in Ultima 8 there was a random shape shifting item that changed between all the shapes of the EA logo, and clicking on it made your character say some quote about bad things are coming or something lol
