here is a easy way to raise your fps and add ram

step one: buy a at least 8 gb usb thumb drive

step two: plug it into your computer

step three: go to your usb drive make sure its empty, then right click and go to properties

step four: click readyboost on your properties and click use this device

step five: drag the bar under use this device to its max, click apply and your done!

have fun with your faster pc!

IMPORTANT NOTE: MUST HAVE USB DRIVE IN PC FOR THIS TO WORK!!!

Readyboost makes only sense if you have a low amount of RAM. (<1GB) Otherwise it's a waste.
(normally used on old laptops to boost them a bit up again)

And MSI Afterburner - really? - Letting an casual doing overclocking ... uffff.

I think a more suitable tool would be GameBooster or similar programs (google is your friend)

MSI Afterburner is cake to use and an awesome tool, you can lower your memory clock, core voltage and core clock to reduce heat in your machine (for some people, this actually raises fps, because some people have bad heat with a bad fan. more heat = less speed) or you can raise it to overclock it in a matter of a second. It's just up to the OP to know what his machine can handle.
Also there's no point in getting something like GameBooster when you can simply end tasks in your process tab of task manager, and use msconfig to prevent them all from starting up again. That's all GameBooster does.

Adding RAM won't fix all of the problems that come with a low end PC.

you should have also mentioned programs such as Gboost (NOT GAMEBOOSTER) and CCleaner

CCleaner helps rid your DD of clutter while Gboost disables useless windows surfaces.
