I have a material that works on the standard PAP guns mtl_silver_etching , but if i try to add that to any other gun they do not show up in game as though the gun is not there at all. This leaves me stuck for making any papped versions or changing any weapon skins .

I have added xmodel and material to folder and tried building mod without them in the folder but the weapon does not show up as soon as i try change material .

Thanks if any help

This.

Sometimes you do need to add it to mod.csv (or your map's CSV, which ever you preferr):

xmodel,modelname

I do that with everything now, never have figured out why sometimes it works without and sometimes dont lol

as for the original topic

If you opened you raw/xmodel/xmodelname - in notepad

find a material, and "change" the name of said material into another. Thats one part done

Now assuming you "have" that material, you then just copy the images used in that material to your mod

Tick the images in launcher, rebuild the mod. That should be all thats needed

You can even just override the skin in assman when converting the model

the "skin override" box at the bottom

can use it the same way as notetracks in weapon files

ORIGINAL_MATERIAL_NAME NAME_OF_MATERIAL_TO_OVERRIDE_WITH

so eg

Code Snippet
Plaintext
BO2_mtl_p6_zm_m1911 pap_camo_1
BO2_mtl_p6_zm_m1911_metal pap_camo_2

saves having two modelexports that way
