If it was because of a missing lightgrid, then surely it wouldn't matter which game the models are from, his WAW guns/hands would also appear black. So more likely he just didn't add the images to his mod or something.

Ah, i've never seen a model turn black if its missing images, only white. Which is why i assumed that the weapon was ported correctly and the map just doesn't have a lightgrid.

I did use that. I just moved out all the xmodels at a time so I don''t have to worry about them in the future. I also moved all animations. Should I try moving all images too? And all materials? (of course don''t replace any existing item)
