Hey guys!

I've been working on my Alcatraz map and want to get it below all of the engine limits so I wont have to use T4M. I know this is a common problem but for some reason I cannot get rid of the 400FX error. I've tried everything I know to do. I followed every tutorial on fixing the issue such as using _ignore files and weapon FX cleaners, and even the singles fix that takes out risers and dogs. But I can't get rid of the FX error.  :'(

So I was wondering if anyone could help me make a fresh new mod that has nothing from der reise in it. So no teleporters, no weapons, no fx, no sounds, NOTHING. I want somewhat of a blank canvas to work with. This way I can simply add my own FX, weapons, and other stuff. If i need the der reise crap I can always add it in later.

My map is mostly all custom textures models and edited stock fx so I don't need all the stock fx and crap loaded.

I think making a mod like this would help me and community tremendously because then there wouldn't be 7000 posts on 400FX help. lol

From what I see, have you told your Alcatraz.csv to ignore the ignore file? I only see the standard two ignores that are always there. I would put "ignore,_ignore,," at the top of your Alcatraz.csv under the other two other ignores (assuming your ignore file is called _ignore).

Make sure you delete your mapname folder in your appdata  blah blah blah. as this will cause you to hit the 400fx limit

Not exactly sure, but try and put that under the two ignores in your Alcatraz.csv instead of the mod.csv. Also, where is your ignore located?

And one other thing, you can use T4M just to see the amount of assets your mod is using. Typing in listassetpool in the console will come up with options that you can choose from. Say listassetpool 7, this is a non-specific example but that would show you every weapon in your mod and where it is being called from. You can use this with the fx and it at the end of the list it will tell you the overall number of fx being used in the mod.

Ok so I put the ignore in my Alcatraz.csv and took it out of mod.csv but still got 400fx error so I installed T4M and It runs. I did what you said and it says I have 427 FX out of 600. Is there a way to save the console to a file? From what I can tell most of it says 'common' beside it and some say 'alcatraz' and 'mod'

Not 100% sure on these, but something like con_external 1 displays the external console (might need a restart). And log_file 1 enables console logging (unsure of this one, but there is a command like this). Also don't remember where the console saves the logs to.

Correction: It's just logfile 1

Ok so I got the external console working and saved the output so maybe someone can help explain where all these FX are coming from. lol I really want to know and learn so I can better understand this weird game and get this Alcatraz finished.

Where is your ignore file located? It should be in zone_source\english\assetlist. I see alot of FX that should have been removed from the ignore and other things. Also, remove any of the "singles" you're not using from your Alcatraz.csv completely. Also post your mod.csv.

Any of the FX in common are built into the game and cannot be removed. Anything inside of Alcatraz can be. One last option you have is to go into some of your scripts and comment out any lines that precache fx, other than that, I think you'll need to sacrifice some of your fx :alone:

Thank you guys for your help. Thank you Psh, you helped me get rid of a lot of FX. I also want to thank codmoddd1234, he helped me get rid of a lot of FX through PM. You guys are the best. I got my total FX down to 386 currently and may be able to reduce some more depending on if I use the flamethrower and Wunderwaffe.  :nyan:  ;D
