I'm working with waypoints right now too and I am having a bit of trouble.
The shader is working fine for me, but the way point doesn't point to the projectile for some reason, it just points to the same point on my map (which is just some random spot on the ground which has nothing there)

Edit: and jei your problem might be that you didn't precache your shader.
