last i read is that last gen either wont be getting the DLC, or will only be getting "parts" of it, most likely particular maps rather than entire bundles, if anything at all

That really sucks for last gen. But people need to understand that the consoles lifespans are over. Both the 360 and PS3 are 10 years old. People can't expect everything to be exactly the same. Look at AW and Payday 2 for example. AW the couldn't add anything other than the dlc after the first royalty weapons drop. And in payday 2 they managed to add in one content update before both systems got maxed out on memory and they had to drop support.

Last I heard was 2015 is the last year for support for the 360 and PS3 so it's either upgrade or be left with nothing new. Plus he Xbox One is getting about 200 360 games to be backwards comparable next month so that would help as you get to keep all your classics.

Consoles, at the end of the day are just restricted PCs. Ive seen so many nutters on the net lately claiming the next gen consoles are just a cash grab and last gen are more than capable of running modern games
