Just because Yahoo is owned by google doesn't mean they are using Google's account security. Yahoo has got to be one of the worst email providers on the planet and their security is virtually nonexistant.

I remember not more than 2 years ago if you knew a person's birth date or their pet's name you could reset their Yahoo email password without them getting any sort of notification or warning that their account had been through a password recovery. Gmail does not allow this to happen and furthers their security by encouraging you to pair your cellphone number to your Google login so that you get a text every time someone tries to access your account from an unusual IP address or gets your password wrong.

I've had my Google account since the private beta in 2004 and have NEVER had my account compromised in any way, even before they implemented more advanced security measures. Before that account I also used Yahoo because it was one of the only providers of free email addresses in existence - under Yahoo my account had been hacked twice in a span of a year.

If you want to stop getting your email hacked, stop using email providers that don't take their users' privacy and security seriously.

The date on that article is 2005, which is less than a year after their launch and during the beta period of Gmail before it was even publicly available. Hardly a good example of a security flaw.

Which really doesn't change my point. One obscure hacker-blog post from 2008 does not represent the current security level of Gmail. The sad part is that my article from 2009 does represent Yahoo's current security because they make little effort to make any improvements after their hacks. Why else would they be the #1 site used to create spam email accounts and the #1 most-hacked email provider?

According to those results, Yahoo users are six times more vulnerable than the Gmail users, and Hotmail users are twice more vulnerable than Gmail users.

Considering Gmail is now the world's largest provider of email accounts and has significantly less user security issues than both of it's leading competitors, I think Gmail wins.

So far my iCloud havent got hacked yet. And everytime someone tries to access my mail on Google it gets blocked until I change the password

In the end though, does it really matter how well the site is coded? i mean, if a hacker REALLY wanted to get into a site, could they still do it?
