I installed Maya 2016 (while having Maya 8.5 and 2012 installed as well). I followed the instructions written by Tom-BMX. Now my problem is, although the top bar menu shows up, Maya is unable to load the Plugin Tom_xAnim_2016_64.mll Maya gives this error: //Error: line 1: could not find given module. (Tom_xAnim_2016_64)
Has anyone seen this error before or knows how to solve it? I've looked everywhere on the internet but couldn't find a solution anywhere.
Try entering in the corner in the mel command box:

I just deleted maya 2012 and reinstalled 2016

This is really weird, can you install any other plug-ins? I tried every possible thing to reproduce it but no luck.

Okay, thanks to Dependencywalker (Really a useful program when something errors!) I was able to figure out the cause. Whenever you think you have all vcredist installed, it turns out you are missing one... Installed VCredist 2015 x64 and problem was fixed.
