I've sought out to get custom guns into my zombie map and have ran into some problems. Since I could not find an actual tutorial providing even the basic guidelines on animating custom weapons inside of Blender, I was set into the right motion studying Tom_BMX melee weapons. I've tried to make a custom knife just as a test run, and got it working into the map. The only problem is that I keep running into a weird viewpoint when the weapon is equipped. It seems as if the player's view gets pushed back into the character's skull, only showing hair from his scalp. I believe it has something to do with the origin of the "j_gun". I'm not sure though because I tried moving it more, and found no results. The view is much better when the player is running however :3

@InFInIX: I've tried adding it into my csv.. No sucess :(

@n123q45: Here's a screenshot of the xanim in AssetManager. I've tried with the "use bones" option on and off, and both do not make a difference as I've seen.

turn off use bones, and is the model file, u have chosen, of the gun and viewhands ( not the rig ) ?

I wasn't sure what to do with the model file, so I assumed it was just a non-animated version of the rig  :o Do you know how to get the viewhands into Blender? I'm not sure how I would go about doing that.

i really dont recommend using blender for viewmodel rigs. there are multiple cases where the plug in is reported to be broken. I recommend doing it via maya 2012 since its free and you have a rig file.

I've been refraining from Maya because its taken awhile to get accustomed to Blender, and now that I have, I don't want to try and learn a whole new software which could possibly take over three times as long than using Blender. I may have to use Maya, but if I could, I'd like to try and get it working on Blender. So if I do use Blender, would I have to make my own rig? Is it not possible to import a premade one?

Same here, Maya is super similar to Blender. I was overwhelmed at first, but seriously, look at the basic tutorials when you open it, like Blender it has a standard for every GUI and HUD element, and although I wish I could animate in Blender I find that I'm quite liking Maya.

Oh, and look at Rollon's tutorials, they help a LOT, although you do have to watch the whole video since it's not a written guide.

Okay so now I've tried using Maya 8.5 and I created the animations for everthing (reload, firing, sprint, pullout, putaway, ect.) The problem now is that I don't think I made the viewmodel or the worldmodel correctly. I may have possibly made the model file (used in Asset Manager) incorrectly. I'm not sure as to what the problem is but I've watched Rollon's tutorials and it doesn't cover using the plugin for Maya 8.5 (he only covers Aiden's plugin for Maya 2012). I may have just exported something incorrectly, I don't know. Here's a screenshot of what happens ingame:

I used the same file for the viewmodel and the worldmodel, with the only difference being that "j_gun" was removed from the worldmodel file. Anyone know what to do?
