Basically the "duplicate bone error" is caused when your model already has a pelvis joint (because its a multiplayer model) and you try to convert it as a multiplayer model (which tries to add a pelvis joint to the model - which it then sees it already has one, thus it gives your error). The model looked bent over when you used it as an animated model because ai models don't use a pelvis joint, so the only thing you can do is export the model to maya, remove the pelvis joint and the fix the weight paints on the vertices (which is a huge pain in the ass).
