what are you using? it should be under save as, if you dont have that you can save it as .dds also, both are fine

Ah thats why gimp saves .tga under export not save

icant find tga to save the picture

did you go file, export? it should be there

dds supports clear images, while tga doesnt (thats what ive been told anyways)

dds has some types of "compressions" wich most important characteristic is the alpha channel.
tga its an "uncompressed" format. normal maps "must" be tga. for occlusion, spec, diffuse etc you can use dds

As my .dds plugin decided not to work anymore I can approve that it IS possible to have transparency on .tga files.
