are you talking about coloring existing textures by selecting verts on patches then pressing G for the color/alpha window?

According to zeroy, there's already tutorials out there on how to do this, but I can't find any.

oh yeah then it was something completely different from what i thought 
Someone on twitter said this "Likely the use of cqb's I believe their called. Basically color correcting reflection probes. Should be in entity browser".
I haven't tried it but you can mess around with it to see if you can get it working
