I've looked to the ends of google and back and haven't found a good or working answer, I've tried everything possible. I don't know if I'm just too stupid to see a plain answer or what.

When I try to host online, I get "Unable to get our online address information."

When I try to host LAN I get a CTD.

This goes for vanilla WaW and any maps I try to host. If anyone could help that would be great.

I had that problem a lot and i fixed it by opening ports on my router. Sometimes i needed to restart my router to fix it when it happened even though i opened necessary ports.

Usually caused by strict NAT type, or an insanely high ping (500ms+), to fix do what johndoe said, for ping it depends on how far you are from each other and both your network set-ups, ISPs and who is using your Internet.

I restarted my router, and I know for a fact my NAT is not strict, and my ping is under 100ms 99% of the time. The friends I want to play with live within a town's distance.

Are you using Steam version of WaW? NAT Type is different from application to application due to use of different ports, NAT on Modern Warfare 3 for me is Open but on Black Ops 2 it's strict because I haven't port forwarded its ports in my router.

EDIT: nvm, saw Steam's directory in the error log, try verifying integrity of game cache.

Also for WaW you need to forward port 28960 and 3074.

oh i mean like theres a list of only the "open" ports on a seperate page on mine

so anything on that list, is already open

but mines also got a list of a bunch of others on another page and what they are for (warcraft, destiny, xbox live etc) i click em then they move to the other list
