Ok, my map refuses to run co op after renaming and throws this error:

ERROR: Could not find zone Call of Duty - World at War\zone\english\Test1.ff'

Test1 being the old map name.
it is worth noting that when clicking co op, and selecting the map in Nazi zombies menu, it still shows Test1 as mapname even though the mod is renamed Stranded.
looking in that file above, there is no .ff for the old OR new map names...

Can anyone help? I really wanna get this fixed

needs to be "nazi_zombie_" name

and i think name has to be 8 characters or less - dont hold me to that

Otherwise co-op will crash

** EDIT ** The other part you mentioned about the name being wrong, its set to whatever the other value was you put in script placer, how did you rename it?

You renamed your mod folder name and that is why it is not working. When trying to play a co-op match the map needs to make sure you are both running the same mod so it looks for the mod address and if the folder names do not match it considers it a different mod. You need to just leave the mod folders as their default names.

I can understand why you did it though. It can be quite frustrating looking in the mods list and some of the maps have odd names or abbreviation and makes it hard to know what the map is.

Easiest way?

Create another map in script placer, then go to root/map_source and rename your old map to the new map name

copy all the contents of your old mod into the new one, except for mapstable and MAPNAME.gsc

Then add the calls bac kto your map GSC, recompile

or is that what you did?

I used the script placer to rename the map, but it left a few files (mapname_patch for example) as Test1, so I changed those to Stranded aswell.

So should I remove stranded from mod folder, use the script placer to make a new map called stranded, and move all scripts, materials etc across to new mod folder?

ok, let me explain what happens when you create a map

All the files for the mapname you set are generated and placed into the right folders in the COD folder, and a mod folder is created. Then the neccesary scripts are moved into that folder from Raw, and some script placers also use custom versions of those scripts instead (Z scriptplacer)

But if you use a "existing" name, itll overwrite all that

Pick a completely different name so you know you cant fuck with anything you shouldnt

Create your mod, then after it says "done" before anything else, go to map_source

youll see YOUROLDMAP.map and YOURNEWMAP.map

delete YOURNEWMAP.map

rename YOUROLDMAP.map to YOURNEWMAP.map

literally the only thing youve done at this point, is copy the map file itself, nothing else

Then give it a test, should compile and run correctly. Then just start copying your stuff back

you dont need to touch your old mod folder, and you shouldnt be renaming anything other than the map file itself

then yoursafe to do a search and delete for anything with your OLD maps name if you ant, or delete it through launcher, or just ignore it. I got like 20 copies of my map in mine lol

Ok, I created a new map called "StrandedV2" with UGX SP because SPZ was down, and named the display name "Stranded" and mapname the above.

The map loads when I do "map Strandedv2" in console, but in co op menu, the map is still showing as being called just Stranded, is this right? Or is it the same problem as before where the map still shows old mapname.
I am kinda unable to test without packaging it, uploading it and getting 2 people to test, so Im hoping what ive done is right

Second thoughts, im gonna start again, what are the EXACT steps I need to make?

Make a new map in SP, what should mapname be and what should display name be? Is it possible to have Stranded V1.1 as my display name for the mod? It usually says no special characters.

Then I do the above steps with the MAP file, I did this and it gave me undefined is not a field object, due to having TONS of triggers in Radiant for scripts that aren't in the new mod.

Then Do I copy the contents of OLDMAP.gsc to NEWMAP.gsc in mod folder, the just copy all other scripts and mod.csv to new folder? And adjust the menufile in raw/ui to run the new mapname?

What do I do about all the OLDMAP.ff and OLDMAP_patch.ff files? Rename them? Use the new ones from the created mod?

And im now getting could not find script, animscripts dog_init.gsc on the new mod, will this happen and how do I fix it?

Sorry for asking so many questions but it is complicated and I want to get it perfect and not have to update again because co op is still broken

EDIT: Is it possible to move old mod to desktop, and make the map again under the same name?

I am pretty sure you just need to go to your mod folder (C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\Mods) and rename the map folder in there to it's default name, or better yet just delete the map from that folder and reinstall the map again and it will be fine.

Just try to never rename maps unless you plan to never play that map on co-op.

There is Stranded.ff
Stranded.Iwd
Stranded_patch.ff
Just rename all those back to Test1 and it should be good to go?

Yes, but also the folder those files are in. To be honest you would be best just deleting it though and reinstalling the map itself. Save you the time and hassle.

Is it your map or one you downloaded?

If it's your map then I would just rename the files back to Test1 and try that first.
