BIG PROBLEMS

Welp after the windows 10 update many things have gone wrong in my pc.

1.after the upgrade windows defender with its so called updated virus data base purged all of my steam apps. so i have to reinstall world at war all of the mod tools. luckily i had a backup of my map and other maps. 

2. The upgrade has resulted in my pc slowing way down. and the loading times for eveything has almost doubled. And since there are more processes constantly going on in the background. I have to close all nonessential programs using task manager or i get a Hunk_allocating error when compiling a small boxmap. compiling a large map takes about an hour now(before it only took about 15 minutes).

3. The upgrade causes all of my steam apps to crash when opening unless i run them in windows 8 mode.

4. since windows defender purged my steam directory i also had to re do all of the 114 textures/posters again in assman.

5. the custom wonder weapon that i had been making was also lost in the purge. so now i have to do all the exporting again.

THE WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE IS AWESOME I LOVE ALL THE THING THAT CAME WITH IT LIKE THE START ABR BUT, I LOST ALMOST 2 MONTHS WORTH OF WORK... ILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON THE MAP.

Excavation site ( Origins ) happened years before der reise ( the cannocial one leads into this story, then sam goes back in time, and manipulates it in the version we played -> leading into Black ops 3s story where they get teleported forward to Der reise ( without ever having been there ) )

why is everyone upgrading to this.... cod 5 is years old, was designed for XP, there will always be issues when using newer OS...

If you want to do modding, you have to "not" fuck with your PC everytime something cool and shiny comes out, coz you end up messing up tons when you change OS - drivers, settings, installation paths, admin rights - you name it. And that OS is like brand new, just came out, and as with every OS before it, will likely have problems, anything from minor things you can work around to some things just "not working" at all, or massive FPS problems in games

If you wanna mod seriously, this goes for everyone, you shouldnt be trying "experimental" stuff on your "modding PC", something goes wrong, you literally %^& yourself. Wait till its been out for a while, compatibility issues have been addressed or at least recognized, and you "know" it will be safe to use

Ive seen this happen over and over now... Full time programmers who go installing Betas of OSs leading to them destroying the entirety of 3 year projects...

The thing with the excavation site is just my story not the actual story if you don't like it or think its accurate fine. ill change it to some other group.

I didn't have a choice lenovo auto updated it when i was sleeping. there is nothing i can do about it. instead of bitching about my inexperience give me useful feedback.

If you're going to upgrade to Windows 10, HAVE A BACK UP! Upgrading OSes can have issues as Harry mentioned.

Also I assure you Windows 10 or Windows Defender did not delete or ruin your files, even if it did detect the files as threats (which I don't see how since none of them are detected as threats for me on latest Defender) it wouldn't have deleted them, it would have put them under "quarantine" which means you can recover them..

I also need to apologize to you directly, posting my anger about my private life was out of line and a misuse of the forum and i'm sorry. I discovered after checking that my WEBROOT quarantined my folder, so i jumped to conclusions and thought it was win 10. but the other problems still stand in my way. If i offended you in anyway i do apologize and i will try not to in the future. once again i'm sorry i only hope you'll forgive me.

I have decided to use my air cannons that i had made for my applied physics course at isu as models for EE weapons.

the first one was just something i made in my applied physics class. the assignment was to demonstate aerodynamics and the effect of wind on objects. so i made an air cannon and shot differently shaped objects and recorded how they behaved from the time of firing til the landing.

So i used them as models.

This first one is the first one i made for my class. the weapon in game will probably be single shot with different firing modes.


This is a more refined version that i made for fun and was fully automatic/semi automatic and used a door bell and a clock timer to release electrical pulses depending on how long i held the doorbell down. it was capable of firing up to 50 rounds on a single air tank. i'm considering implementing an air tank system on top of the ammo system but not sure at this time.

If I were you, I'd use 2016 for my modeling instead of 2012. Works much MUCH smoother and the modeling toolkit is a godsend.

Does it crash on startup or when you save? Because I know how to fix the crashing issue if you can at least get into maya. Go to Windows->Settings and Preferences->Preferences->Files/Projects->Switch Maya os to system default. If that doesn't work, you could still change it in a preferences file, but I don't know what file holds the preferences.

on startup it gives me a maya 2016 or whatever is not responding. pop up and then i have to close the program. its probably my ram or cpu is overloading. but ehh doesn't matter, i actually like 2014
