So I added gamemodes to my map and I'm trying to edit the menu so they are selectable in Game Setup in coop lobbies. I could only make it with

but when I close the menu without applying the changes, the dvar value keeps being the same.
So basically, I want to make it that the dvar value only changes when I apply the changes. But I don't have any idea, lol. I've been looking at some menu files, but I can't find how they do that.

If the dvar live updates but gets overwritten on exit that you mean you reset it in the previous menu or on the macro ONESC

No, I probably didn't express it correctly lol.
What I mean is that the dvar does update, but no matter if I press "Ok" or "Back". I only want it to update when I press "Ok".

Don't know why but it didn't work.
But I finally found, while looking for the use of setLocalVarBool ui_showApply 1 in option_graphics_pc, exec "setfromdvar dvar1 dvar2", which sets the value of a dvar from the value of another. Maybe it's not the correct way, but its working for me at least. :P
