Server Script Compile Error 'map/createfx/dlc3_fx'

Hi,

So I am currently working on a map, and when I come to compiling the level, it says everything is fine, but when I open World at War and I try to run the map, it says:

Server script compile error
Could not find script 'maps/createfx/dlc3_fx'
(See console for details)

Help pls :(

Hi,

I'm not a scripter but before you run your map open console using ~ and type "developer 2" without the quotes of course then run the map again ....
now it will tell you where the issue is coming from......or why it's happening.....now hold shift and press ~ it will open the whole console and tell you what line the issue is coming from if it is coming from some scripting, if not well someone else here will know.

OK thanks for that,

I got this when it kicked me out of loading the map:
Server script compile error
bad syntax
ignore,code_post_gfx,,
(see console for details)

And then when I fully opened the console, I got 3 "sets" of errors:

1)      Error:
         Server script compile error
         error: bad syntax: (file 'maps/createfx/dlc3_fx.gsc', line 1)

2)     Error: Waited 278 msec for missing asset "loadscreen_[map name]"
        Error: Could not load material "loadscreen_[map name]"

3)     Error: Line 317: Invalid line in playlist 0
        Error: Line 322: Invalid line in playlist 0
        Error: Line 327: Invalid line in playlist 0
        Error: Line 332: Invalid line in playlist 0

This is the first map that I'm making, and so I'm a big noob :P. Sorry if I'm wasting your time on simple errors :/

Don't worry about the second two as much as the map will run just fine with those errors as for your first error are you using the dlc3_fx gsc?

And it's location seems weird a little too...

Normally someone who knows a lot more than me would help you but ugx members have been becoming dicks lately...not all of them some of them are great don't get me wrong ...I've almost left more times than I can count in the last month but the better members have kept me here glad to see you mapping I hope to see something great eventually!

Well I read up on another post and I copied and pasted a dlc3_fx code they had posted and they said just putting that in as a .gsc would be fine, but apparently not. Also what should I do about the third error? Thanks for helping this much so far :)

Edit: Also thanks for that little message at the end. Hope to not disappoint :D

I've had those errors and it shouldn't stop your map from starting...not sure what they have to with but if you're tools are patched to 1.4 or 1.7 then it should make a map fine.

you can find the patches here if you haven't done that.

plus the game patches here (which I don't think you need because I don't have it and everything works fine)

after that get script placer 2.0.1 from below

and then being new to mapping use the script placer and it should start with these settings in general



leave it on setup map as that makes life easy

now of course name your map at the top and right below that put what you want it to say when players start the map



then make edits to the other section (there's tuts on that if you don't know)

now compile and let it finish, oh note if you just opened it, it will have a download to get (I recommend not ever checking the ugx box as it messed my stuff up but it's up to you on that one)

Now You'll have this map in radiant



make some changes don't delete the boxes on the outside simply highlight them then goto view and select hide selected for a bit so it's out of your way
while you start.

now save and goto your launcher... then goto mod builder and choose you map check the .ff box and iwd box....should look like this



make sure if you have any extra textures or guns or etc... you've added in you check them in the box to the far right then compile and wait for it
to finish.

once that's done go back to the first tab and select your map and have the boxes checked like this



compile your map and once that's finished goto your_map_name_patch and only the compile ff will be checked
compile that....and now your map will run...goto call of duty and then open console and type

"devmap your_map_name" without the quotes lol

it will start your map note once you compile the patch there's no need to do it again and if you're using a custom ff like from harry's
don't compile the patch again or it will mess up his perks once you've added them..(add his patch over yours so make sure you've got that map working before adding his stuff)

Not sure how much you know about this so I hope this wasn't just a bunch of stuff you already knew how to do! hope this helps!

Haha yeah sorry about you having to redo a lot but I didn't have many people clearly explain how to get the setup working right, so I thought I'd Help you out!
