So I added one gun and hit the 400 fx limit. Deleted my appdata in an attempt to save fx. Map didn't work. Deleted map. Recreated map. Still didn't work. Deleted mod tools. Reinstalled mod tools. Recreated map.

Now map has no audio at all except for Harry Bo21's perks (both perk machines and perk dialogue) and the cocking animation for one gun (can't remember which one and too lazy to check; mp40 maybe?). Audio for standard WaW maps (like Nacht der Untoten) work fine. Menu sounds work fine on my map too. Any ideas, folks? I've heard that I might have to reinstall DirectX &/or W@W. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that...  :'(

Also, who wants to see a WIP of my map? It's called Puns...  ;)

You did all that needless shit just because you hit the fx limit?  :poker:

You probably didn't install the mod tools correctly, and no I don't want to see your WIP called 'Puns'.

Next time how about doing a basic search for your problem instead of just butchering your entire WAW when you hit a snag? Might be a thought.

When I exported the first weapon to my map I hit the 400fx limit, I deleted the WaW guns from dlc3.csv in zone_source and it worked  :poker:

This is probably my 100th time hitting the fx limit. I already had 51 weapon files in my weapons folder before I added the 52nd and hit the limit... again... I've already used the singles method in zone source, created a my_ignore.csv for zone source asset list, and used the weapon fx cleaner. Still hit the limit, so I wasn't sure what else to try beside deleting the appdata (as suggested by MakeCents here: http://ugx-mods.com/forum/index.php/topic,5311.0.html.) and commenting out stuff in zone source. And I only deleted my map because it kept crashing and uninstalled mod tools because I couldn't even create a basic working map anymore with Hankey's script placer.

This is probably my 20th time or so installing mod tools, so I'm pretty sure I installed them correctly as my map was working properly before all this happened.

I've always done searches on Google and this forum whenever I hit a snag. Usually works pretty well. If that doesn't work, I usually go to chat. Since all I did was uninstall and reinstall mod tools, I don't see how I butchered W@W entirely, as everything 3arc made still works fine.

Hope that cleared things up. I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled mod tools in a long time, and most of the time afterward I discovered whatever error I'd made was rectifiable without deleting mod tools. This was only a last resort because I thought that if I could even create a basic map anymore, my mod tools were probably corrupted. Any ideas now that you have further background on my situation?

Okay, I've narrowed the problem down to something in my backup folder messing up the sound. I'm going to assume most mappers here make a backup folder and have had to delete their map at some point. Any ideas what type of files other than .map  and .bak I should not be directly copying and pasting into my WaW root folder? My backup folder contains:

1. All of Harry's perk files in one folder.
2. My mod.csv file for my map.
3. My custom sound .wav files.
4. My .map and .bak files for my map in Radiant.
5. My weapon files.
6. All the zone source files for the 400 fx "Singles" fix.
7. My my_ignore .csv file for zone source.
8. My Maya and Xanim_Export files for my custom weapon animations and animated models for custom animations.
9. My .gdt files for my custom textures, ported weapons, custom weapons, and the animated models for custom animations.
10. Model_export folders containing Maya files, image files, and model_export files for custom weapons and Black Ops weapons and the default folders for COD 4 weapons using Tom's COD 4 xmodel mover.
11. Xanims and .bak xanim files for ported and custom animations.
12. The xmodel, xmodelparts, and xmodelsurf files for my ported and custom weapons.
13. The image, material, and material_property files for my custom textures and custom / ported weapons.
14. The custom .gsc files that I drag into my maps folder in my mod folder.
15. The files for the MotD hud.

Note that upon copying and pasting these into my WaW root or mod folder, I run the converter to convert these files instead of doing it manually in Asset Manager. Is this causing the no sound problem?

Any ideas of what in my backup folder is causing the sound issue?

The sounds are commented out in the files provided in my packs, as are the waw guns...

The problem is clearly "with" the zone source files you've put back again

Fixed the problem months ago, but yes, it was indeed something in zone source, though I've little idea what exactly I commented out. Thanks, though!
