Try and squeeze an SSD in there, the tools really need fast storage and tbh it's probably best to have an SSD at least for your OS.

Update: Unfortunately the lag with mod tools has gotten worse as I add more to the map. I am going to have to wait until the end of November(cyber monday) to continue working on the map. Will be ordering a decent rig for the first time in my life, if...

Edit: So I tried looking around on my map grid and I found that I actually had an empty fx thing. It was just a tiny "fx" text. After finally selecting it and deleting it, it got rid of the issue.
