So, this is my first map. Don't go harsh on me.

As soon as I load up my map, I die instantly and I don't see any brushes/models/textures.


So this is how my map looks in Radiant (Don't mind the lack of detail, I'll do it later):





And this is how it looks like ingame:

You're dying instantly because you don't have your zones set up properly, look at this JBird632 tutorial to see how to set up zones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht1bu0zBqWA, and, have sure your start zone is named "start_zone".

About the textures, did you already tried using other textures? Like, use something random, just select the usage as floor and select something of wood, and, try to build in-game the lightning if you didn't before.
