1 I noticed there is not really any shadows in my map even with a light connected to an info null.

Heads up I'm not by my computer so you might have to do a little looking
For the first one open radiant and it's either the second or third drop down menu close to the bottom it'll say something like "sun info" of "edit sun info" click on that and play with the two bars till you get your shadows how you want. I also recommend turning on sun preview. Which I believe is under the view tab, light options, show sun. Or something. If your map is really detailed my shorty laptop can't handle adding in the view sun settings, so it lags hardcore. But I'm sure yours wont
