What about a WW2 battleship or aircraft carrier? I have worked in 2 battleships and I could send you some schemes about WW2 aircrafts, such as USS Enterprise. Another WW2 classic theme would be Stalingrad, with the destroyed buildings and a lot of debris. There are many pictures in Google you can use as background. Hope I helped you good luck with the maps
