Title: WIP - Project Viking

This map's name is Project Viking.

Project Viking is a map that ive been working on for about 4 months now. Its setup as a challenge map for players who are good at zombies, but there will be a difficulty option for those who cant take the heat. This map will combine many features from Bo1 and Bo2 zombies as well with many custom features. Heres a list of some of the things this map includes (Note this doesn't include all the features, just alot of the main ones ).

- Bo2 generators
- Bo2 wonder weapons including the JetGun, Paralizer, SlipGun, Blunder/Acid Gat, RayGMk2
- Bo2 Boss zombies including Brutus, crusaders and the Panzer Soldat
- Bo2 music styled stingers
- Bo2 buildables
- Bo2 die rise style elevator
- Bo2 timebomb
- Bo1 wonder weapons including the Freeze Gun and Thundergun
- Bo1 kino style pap + five style switches to get to pap
- Bo1 Diving (Works with Phd)
- Custom Wonder Weapon
- Anti Training/Camping (Still possible, but alot harder then usual)
- Many gamemodes including Chaos from MW3 and Turned from Bo2
- Fixed all Bo1 perks. Phd Blocks explosives+no damage indicator. Mule kick functions properly + gives back weapon if you buy the perk again after loosing it. Proper running speed with stamin, reduced cross-hair size with deadshot.
- Includes all perks in zombies from bo1 and bo2 besides tombstone
- Killstreaks including (Pred Missle, AC130 and MOAB)

Update- 7/13-14
Just going to update the topic to let you guys know the map is not dead. The map has recently been going through alot of testing and im trying to fix as much bugs as possible so you guys can have the smoothest gameplay possible when playing. I also have recently been working on a new grief type gamemode for the map, so hopefully this will be something competitive players like to play as well. Im not going to reveal much about this gamemode, but i will say that it'll be alot different then what your probally used to.  ;)

Most of the old weapon collection has been replaced with newer weapons. In addition to this, some old wonder weapons have been removed (JetGun & Slipgun). These weapons will be featured in other maps instead.

possibly but it looks more like, power can be turned off or an alcatraz generator perk system (which i really hope isnt the case)

but you didnt lose your perks if one went offline, just the ability to PaP, thats what i liked about it, so that doesnt look the origins setup to me

Brutus doesnt take your perks either, just locks the machines, again doesnt take your perk away, the whole idea of it in Tranzit was silly, the power going off of a machine should not affect a liquid you drank

My apologizes I should have been more clear of what I meant by "anti training/camping". You can still camp, but eventually boss zombies will spawn on you which will most likely force you to move. There is still training as well, but its alot harder. You wont be able to just run circles with your eyes closed like you could for most maps in BO.

The map uses the origins style generators, but the only difference is that if the zombies take back a generator that powers a perk you have, it becomes disabled until you can power it back on. Like I said its built to be a challenge map. However if you play the Easy difficulty, its impossible for the perks to get disabled once you have them.

I wanted to bring back Turned so people who enjoyed the gamemode can play with their friends. It was very easy to recreate, so I thought why not?

Actually, with the way its setup now, only brutus and the generator zombies can spawn as bosses when playing easy. Also, only one type of boss (excluding the Panzer Soldat) can spawn at a time. The Panzer Soldat follows the origins spawning setup - but will not spawn on easy.

I have 3 different types of turned.
Shotguns - Only have M1911 and a Shotgun
Reverse GG - Start with better weapons and make your way down to the pistol
Wonder Weapons - Endless Cycle through many of the Wonder Weapons in the map

I may add a normal weapons endless cycle type for those who want to try to get through all the weapons included in the map.

Well im quite happy with the wonder weapon cycle, take it there must be a lot of them as it would be over pretty quickly wouldnt it, that boss setup sounds alright

Yeah still making lots of progress. One of the newest features that ive added is a "challenges" mode that you can play with the classic gametype. These are random ideas people give me to make the game more challenging. For example, theres one where you can only buy perks from the wunderfizz machine, and theres another where you can only use the shovel to dig up weapons rather then using the box.

but then we can spam the wunderfizz to get perks cheaply? unless there is a 4 perk limit in which case there should be a way to get more than 4 perks, i like the digsite instead of box - so all box weapons come from digsites instead

Yes, there is a perk limit which can be avoided by getting the random perk drop, or by digging up a bottle with the golden shovel from a digsite which gives you another perk slot for use with the wunderfizz just like in origins.

And for the digging challenge, you don't get good weapons until you obtain the golden shovel, which makes it a bit harder then you think. :)

Yeah im still adding stuff to this map, sorry for being so inactive recently. The most recent stuff that ive added was the napalm and shreaker zombie from shangri-la along with a few new challenges. Its been alot of work going through the beta testing, because theres always something that needs to be tweaked or random glitches that pop up.

Iv'e been waiting for this map ever since the 1st post about it. I'd just want to say that this custom map is my fav even though its not out. RedSpace, AWESOME job and I mean that. Once it comes out I will play it NON-STOP no matter how hard it is. And I think I can speak for us all that it is and will be the best map to this day and many more! I wish I could beta test..  :gusta:

Sorry I did not get a chance to beta it with you. I was ill with the flu for over a week and could barely muster the strength to get on the laptop to check emails and message, nevermind playing zombies.

Glad to hear it is very near completion. I seriously cannot wait to get stuck into it.

I have played this map and redspace i have known about this map for a long time.Then he gave me a chance to play the beta and redspace has put a lot of work into this map and to me i think this map is sooo coooool :D

It does act exactly like it does in bo2 before they patched it, so it can chain up to multiple enemys. There are a few problems I need to get sorted out with it though that have been taking longer then expected, so im not sure if im going to be able to include it in the released version at first. I'll have to see how it goes.

Im actually almost done completely with the map. I have been recently working to get my last few features in the map such as laststand crawling and duel wield weapons. :)

Certain boss zombies are immune to certain wonder weapons or take little damage by them, but others are greatly effected. There is always a quick way to take out all bosses though, so I guess thats good :P

All the features are pretty much complete at this point. I have recently been fixing up lots of bugs that me and a few testers found. I would really like to release this map with as little glitches/bugs possible, so im willing to spend however long that'll take fixing them all. Sorry for the long delay, I know its been a while.

Because if a perk machine is not on, then the perk can't be activated (unless your playing on the easy difficulty). Its a combination of the tranzit and origins power system.

I cannot tell u how awesome this map is. I got the chance to test it last night (Well...It is my birthday  :troll: ) and was truly blown away.
RedSpace has done some amazing work on this map and is truly what a 1st map should be.
I am gonna predict there will be 0 members leaving the community on the back of this map.

I think maps with way too much foliage can make the game lag if your PC isn't that good enough

How so? The map is fantastic, stock or not. Maybe if it ran better on your setup you would enjoy it more but if your only disdain for it is down to it being a stock map then your priorities are all wrong.

Exactly why, stock setup, and i cannot enjoy it when i cant play it properly, hobo ville runs considerably better. Its not like i dont expect it, but this and comosea are the 2 maps that i would enjoy/play more if they ran better

Comosea is portaled professionally by CoDMapper himself and even has performance settings (fog toggle, fire toggle, etc) for people who want to get the most FPS on underperforming rigs... I really can't comprehend how anyone could get an unplayable FPS on that map if they meet the required specs for the game.

it should be here soon, like, really soon, we couldnt find any bugs map wise, he's squashed as many as he can find, any bugs in the map will probably only be little things people purposely try to find just to nit pick, the map is amazing and im 100% sure you guys will like it, but be warned, this map is hard, even on easy its hard, but still amazingly fun, if you guys complaing the swan was hard just wait, this will be a real challenge, I have my 28 downs in 1 game to prove it xD, but like I said, I was just cracking up, freaking out, and sat in ah the entire time of this map, no doubt you guys wont love it :)

Well, that statement might calm me down until the end of the week, but after that imma go back to impatient twitchy mode! I think i stated before that even if the map is hard as f*ck, im still going to play it non-stop. Kinda like cheese cube unlimited, but better. Update- 7/13-14
Just going to update the topic to let you guys know the map is not dead. The map has recently been going through alot of testing and im trying to fix as much bugs as possible so you guys can have the smoothest gameplay possible when playing. I also have recently been working on a new grief type gamemode for the map, so hopefully this will be something competitive players like to play as well. Im not going to reveal much about this gamemode, but i will say that it'll be alot different then what your probally used to.  ;)

With the way I set it up, the host picks what the game settings are after the map is completely loaded up. I found this method alot easier then editing the menu files.

The grief-type gamemode seems interesting, it would be awesome to see it have an 8 player feature, but thats simply not possible in W@W... Grief mode was played with two teams of 4 on BO2, i was just sayin it would be cool to see that happen but one, its just not possible, and two - it would lead to many issues if it was.

That is what treyarch did for BO2 they used the multiplayer engine.

Ive seen this done in cod 4 mods where there is 16 players killing zombies except the zombies are classed as opposing team bots so surely something better than this can be possible in world at war.

Also there are alot of cod 4 mods like death run, prop hunt, etc but there isnt much for world at war.

No, it's DEFINITELY not that easy. I already looked into this last year and found numerous issues with porting the existing scripts:

1) The only AI/pathfinding in CoDWaWMP is the dog AI, which has very limited use compared to SP AI. There are already some MP Zombies mods out for CoD5 (zombiesX for instance) and once you see how weird the AI behave you'll see why this is a bad idea.
2) CoDWaWMP is missing a shitload of engine functions that SP zombie scripts use quite often - a good chunk of these missing functions cannot be replicated from GSC script because they access engine aspects that GSC cannot touch.
3) CoDWaWMP has a limit on how many dog AI can be spawned just like SP zombies has a limit on how many AI can be spawned - this creates an imbalance because with you have more then 4 players you need X (lets say 15) possible zombies per player to keep the gameplay fast paced.

To sum up you can make a barebones clone of zombies in MP but that already exists with the current selection of MP mods for WaW, and none of them are as good as SP zombies.

I personally prefer to leave my videos unlisted mainly because I never really intended to show them off to anyone. I just figured I haven't updated here in a while so showing one of the videos would be a nice change.

It's just that they finally made it so you don't just have to run along the ground, you can FLY (like iron man) with your jetpacks. In other words, they finally changed something in the game instead of leaving it as a standard CoD.

It doesn't seem to affect Titanfall that much, and like that game, as one of the main new features I am sure they will have focused on it more in an attempt to make sure that kind of thing is not a major issue.

well its a great trate since i tend to beta test alot of maps

Its one thing finding & identifying them...Its a whole other thing to exploit them in game...

Hey guys. Ive decided to post what i think is going to be my last update as the maps nearing completion. There is going to be an addition to the crane in the video i posted earlier. One of the crates that the crane picks up now is able to be opened up so players can enter. If the crane picks up the crate while players are inside it, it takes them for a ride around the map, acting somewhat similar to the tank from origins. Zombies are able to jump up into the crate once its stopped moving, and the mech is now able to use the flamethrower and booster at the same time (only when players are in the crate)

I really would have liked to have this released already, but after a few coop tests I released I still have work to do with fixing up glitches/bugs. I don't have as much free time to edit the map anymore either, that's why its been taking this long.

A few of my scripts have been based from the given scripts in the bo1 tools package, but other then that, everything ive done has been created from scratch in attempt to get it as accurate as possible to the original.

Yeah, from what ive seen, its the heavy effects that slow down certain computers. I may be able to get a option into the menu which would fix the issue for some people.

I believe he did multiple times, and i know the Sliquifer was sacrificed to get rid of some problems

I also agree with HarryBO2 that a lot of people are asking "i hope i get beta access" which is just as bad as requesting it in the first place - but yhSimple's comment was productive and I'll allow it.

Back to topic. I watched the JD video, was very impressed. I really liked the moving crate, I can think of lots of uses for that

Also your afterlife mode looks perfect. Very interesting concept indeed

Typically Mediafire takes longer than Mega for me, but it doesnt stop, Mega has the tendency to freeze at 99% but if its on a good day, i prefer Mega for it being much quicker.

I agree, and apparently Panzers spawn Round 22 on easy, even though i thought he said no panzers would spawn on easy, and that helicopter that kills you, i dont think should be on easy, i think easy should mean easy, with it being an ordinary map like official maps with brutus popping up now and again, then the other bosses etc can appear on the other modes

On topic... Red space you should change the position of the ac130 so it is a bit more usable, on daleks video it was hard to see zombies pastst the crane. Giving the ac 130 and the predator missile a thermal sight to see the zombies would be great. Or at least a Red box like bo2 target finder  And how will it work on coop? Will the zomvies ignore the player in the c130? Good job can't wait for realese

I imagine this account will be banned, but this should be said publicly.

I hope redspace200 isn't put off by youtube trolls who are directing hate his way.
The development process of project viking appears to be long, and what has been shown
publicly displays a lot of hard work and ingenuity.

redspace200's contributions to the custom zombie community and work on various maps speak for themselves.
What he's been able to do with the world at war engine is beyond what most people thought possible.
His contributions should be applauded and I value them even though my consumption of custom zombies
to this date is 100% from youtube.  I run a linux desktop primarily and haven't tested WAW with wine.
Nevertheless, I value Redspace200's efforts and those of many other skilled mappers and scripters on
this board and others.

redspace200's mistake was trusting his work to MrDalekJD to present accurately.

Like NGT and some other channels with ego-centric personalities,  MrDalekJD is a shameless self-promoter that sensationalizes his videos with over-dramatized commentary. Everything is awesome, every video is deserving of a like. Those guys are all about the money, and they will say anything or label anything in the pursuit of more money. Any hate generated by MrDalekJD's pre-review screencast of the project viking beta is 100% on him for misrepresenting the video as Black OPS 3 and trying to bait in Youtube viewers for ad hits.

I view the map as a technical demonstration displaying the limits of what is possible with the world at war engine.  I do agree though that the amount of bosses and difficulty of play even on easy mode appears to be slightly overkill.

After being so protective of this map and not allowing any of the testers make videos of it I was surprised to see redspace200 allow a big YouTube personality go wild with it, and I am sorry to see that it did not turn out better. I could be wrong but I don't think I remember MrD mentioning redspace200 a single time in the whole video. The video stunk of self-promotion and fake reactions to things in the map, along with the deception in the title to get people to watch it in the first place. I hope that the customs community will not help out MrD with any more map previews until he either apologizes for this or makes things right with redspace200.

I agree with you 100%. I saw the title to that video and was completely disgusted with MrDalek. After being so protective of this map and not allowing any of the testers make videos of it I was surprised to see redspace200 allow a big YouTube personality go wild with it, and I am sorry to see that it did not turn out better. Just saw a bit of that video and the reaction to the crane, (On my God, we are in the crane, we are in a freakin crane box!) was just bullshit, completly overreacted. And I also never heard redspace´s name, an insult for the map maker. I completly agree with Trem and Gr00t, hope that guy loses community support.

This is MrDalekJD here. I want to first off apologize to anyone who thinks I have humiliated Redspace's work. This is not the case at all. I've tried my best to display the revolutionary features the map has within my playthrough. You can argue and say that my commentary and reactions in it was over the top, and I will agree. Before recording, I spent the last 2 days playing the map over and over again to make sure I found every feature so I could show off the map in its best light. It's understandable after that much playtime that my initial reactions were long gone, and that I had gotten used to the revolutionary features. In no way shape or form did I ever demoralize Redspace in the video nor talk anything negative of him. I spoke nothing but positive points about his work throughout the playthrough.

The title of part 1 is now changed, but it was titled that way to get people to see his work. I play all custom zombie maps for fun. Redspace didn't want any promotion whatsoever on the videos, but I told him he deserves all the promotion he can get for the time and effort spent creating the map. Me and him spent around 5 days before my playthrough video just talking about the map, the features he's put in and ideas to expand on areas of the map that are closed off in its current build.

This is a full thorough apology to the entire UGX community who believe I have done wrong being allowed to preview the map. I am just a normal guy like you all are, enjoying maps that the community have created, and recording them and uploading them to YouTube. I never intend on creating these videos to offend and annoy anyone. I create them to showcase the talent of map creators and to get a little bit more exposure of the map so more people can enjoy them. Hopefully this small passage is enough for you to forgive me.

Well, I watched the video you make (part 1 at least) on Viking and didn't think it was as bad as people were making out. You explained the features well and explored the map enough to show off the features and layout. Maybe a mention of the mapper would help your case next time around, but aside from that the video was fine.

I have seen cheesier, more over-the-top reactions from you in other videos, and understand that having played it extensively before making the video that you needed to ham up some of the reactions to add to the dramatic effect.

Either way, it is down to the mapper themselves (in this case, RedSpace) whether they are happy with your content, and I don't see any complaints from RedSpace, so I don't really see the issue.

Still, it is very refreshing to see a well known Youtuber apologies to the community, so hopefully this is the end of the matter and the thread can get back on-topic. :)

Most YouTubers have alternate accounts to get around stuff like this, including NGT. Plus I think this is over the top anyway. I don't think MrD humiliated the map, but I think it was misrepresented and I also think that Redspace deserves a little more credit than he was given in the videos. Assuming that Redspace did ask MrD not to praise him too much in the videos, I can understand why he was not mentioned many times.

Misleading people to think they are about to watch Black Ops 3 zombies just pisses them off, regardless of what they are watching instead. I am glad you changed it now but I think your reasoning behind your initial decision to name it "BLACK OPS 3" in the title is a little weak.

It takes a lot of courage and humility for a YouTuber to face an angry community and apologize for their actions. I can think of a few other YouTubers who would have either ignored us completely or came on here to belittle us and tell us we are just jealous of someone else's success or whatever else instead of listening to what we have to say and actually applying it.

Research and preparation can be used to present information concisely and accurately.  These are good habits in any field of study (not just video games).  Unfortunately, despite drawing attention to map features, your playthrough commentary came off as extremely fake and overly-dramatized.  This translates into you being the center of attention and not the content you are supposed to be previewing.

I'm not sure if there were any conditions set on the amount of video you could show, but if there were no such conditions, you should really have considered just doing a screencast of live playthrough and then posting a two hour video. Your reactions would be genuine and you would present the map fairly as it unfolds.  Let the map speak for itself.  If you miss some things, come back and post a follow up video that shows some new discovery.

Like most youtube personalities, I believe you get some enjoyment playing games, just like the rest of us.  But you do have a profit seeking motive and that is clearly outlined by branding, like/button requests and overlays, and generally eccentric commentary.  So really, it's not just about playing games and posting videos, lets be honest about that.


Redspace didn't want any promotion whatsoever on the videos, but I told him he deserves all the promotion he can get for the time and effort spent creating the map. Me and him spent around 5 days before my playthrough video just talking about the map, the features he's put in and ideas to expand on areas of the map that are closed off in its current build.

I think redspace200's work speaks for itself within the custom zombie community.  Other mappers and scripters respect him, and even lurkers like me have noticed the fruits of his labor.  I can't speak for redspace200, but I don't think he needs "all the promotion he can get".  When the map is released (assuming he hasn't changed his decision), others will notice.  If redspace's motive included using project viking as a technical demonstration for use on a professional resume, then again, he doesn't need "promotion" from a youtube personality.  The work speaks for itself.

Offering feedback and comments is always good though, because it can lead to reflection.

Your apology is acknowledged.  There are three groups of people deserving of an apology.  1. Redspace200 2. Your viewers (misrepresenting the video as BLACK OPS 3)  3. UGX-MOD Community

The UGX-MOD community were mostly bystanders in this and aren't directly involved, but if some took offense to your video it could directly impact your ability to get future beta access to videos.  Most people are keenly aware that having beta access and having a "youtube exclusive" preview can add thousands of hits/likes resulting in more money for you.  So you have a self-interest in maintaining a good standing "relationship" with the community.

Research and preparation can be used to present information concisely and accurately.  These are good habits in any field of study (not just video games).  Unfortunately, despite drawing attention to map features, your playthrough commentary came off as extremely fake and overly-dramatized.  This translates into you being the center of attention and not the content you are supposed to be previewing.

I'm not sure if there were any conditions set on the amount of video you could show, but if there were no such conditions, you should really have considered just doing a screencast of live playthrough and then posting a two hour video. Your reactions would be genuine and you would present the map fairly as it unfolds.  Let the map speak for itself.  If you miss some things, come back and post a follow up video that shows some new discovery.


This is accurate, even if your commentary did appear fake and overly-dramatized.


You misrepresented the video and personally have a long history of publishing click bait speculation commentary videos on your channel to generate hits/likes for revenue. I covered this above.  Also the original title "BLACK OPS 3" still remains in the description, which results in the video coming up in a youtube search query



Like most youtube personalities, I believe you get some enjoyment playing games, just like the rest of us.  But you do have a profit seeking motive and that is clearly outlined by branding, like/button requests and overlays, and generally eccentric commentary.  So really, it's not just about playing games and posting videos, lets be honest about that.


I think redspace200's work speaks for itself within the custom zombie community.  Other mappers and scripters respect him, and even lurkers like me have noticed the fruits of his labor.  I can't speak for redspace200, but I don't think he needs "all the promotion he can get".  When the map is released (assuming he hasn't changed his decision), others will notice.  If redspace's motive included using project viking as a technical demonstration for use on a professional resume, then again, he doesn't need "promotion" from a youtube personality.  The work speaks for itself.

Offering feedback and comments is always good though, because it can lead to reflection.


Your apology is acknowledged.  There are three groups of people deserving of an apology.  1. Redspace200 2. Your viewers (misrepresenting the video as BLACK OPS 3)  3. UGX-MOD Community

The UGX-MOD community were mostly bystanders in this and aren't directly involved, but if some took offense to your video it could directly impact your ability to get future beta access to videos.  Most people are keenly aware that having beta access and having a "youtube exclusive" preview can add thousands of hits/likes resulting in more money for you.  So you have a self-interest in maintaining a good standing "relationship" with the community.
if you have read the previes replays to this topic you would have seen that most if not all things stated here have already been talked about and jd has already apologized (although i don't feel he had to) although thats my opinion.

maybe and idea to add banking system for points when got alot of points to bank them and when you replay the map then you can witdraw back your points for upgrades and etc... like bo2 banking system

Not sure about my take on the amount of bosses though. Id like to think as many as possible would be cool, but maybe there are one or two that could go, or at least only spawn under certain conditions (maybe as part of a easter egg)

That way they are still there, but those that have no interest can just miss em.

Actually quite a good idea, like a door that otherwise has no use. Except on certain round, or at a certain point of the easter egg, releases multiple boss types (sorta like killing the Panzer Soldats on Origins)

Some people have been complaining about the total number of bosses, so I removed the ones i don't think suit the map at all such as the moonman and the screamer. Focusing on making the map look better now, as most of the scripts at this point are complete.

This is a very smart move in my opinion. The spaceman seemed a pointless addition anyway, and looked a tad buggy from what I have seen. Screamer is also not very suitable for the map. Brutus and the Panzer are fine though. The main aim should be to make a map that makes sense and everything within it fits the theme well enough, otherwise you will just have a clusterfuck of all the best things from BO1 & BO2.

Just because you can port them well doesn't mean you need to add everything to one map... it will leave you nothing to add to your next map. :P

Yeah I have to say both bosses were pointless. I could have fixed them up, but never liked them enough to do so. I think most people could agree with this.

Yeah because past round 20, easy mode deactivates and it turns into the original mode

I like that idea though, since round 20 is about the point when you should have all perks, a good arsenal of weapons, at least 1 pap and should have no problem surviving.

Thats exactly why I had it setup that way. I figured people would get bored if the ai was moving slow for the entire game

This is not necessary at all. You can let the bosses, just need to organize them. What i mean? Well, This is a part of an idea I will post later for the Custom Map Ideas Section.

Put 2 random special bosses on every 2/3 rounds, not the hellhounds/Spacemonkeys, etc, but the ones who appear at the same time with the zombies, like the panzer Soldat, Napalm, Astronaut, etc. Even you can include some hellhounds (Maybe 4 or 5 per random round). :yeah:

I mainly removed them because they did not suit the map at all. I know not everything I have scripted relates to the setting of my map, but the moonman was totally out of place. At least now I have room for more suitable features that people will probably prefer.

All of these are very good suggestions, but I was getting the idea that people did not want more features as it would just make the map more complicated then it needs to be. I do have quite a few ways of transportation (Instead of landers), cia models (no voices), and placeable traps. I have a new area planned before release which will expand the maps size to.

I actually quite like the idea of biodome type area, a place where we can train, but maybe an event that happens every few rounds, will kill you if your inside

Another idea I want suggest you is add a machine who can move the containers randomly  every 3/4 minutes, changing the default path, opening/closing some areas when this happen. So that can be a good way to do our own gameplay, and of course making the map a little unpredictable  :troll:

I understand with the lack of official Zombies until at least 2015 and the insane quality of many current & upcoming projects it can be difficult to be patient but I guarantee allowing mappers time will only benefit us all

How? Simple, they will release projects which are well-crafted and as bug-free as possible which in turn will minimise complaints [i.e. negative criticism] and help motivate makers to invest time in further, possibly more ambitious, projects
This in turn will lead to an increase in quality maps and so on and so forth

The other side of the coin is potentially a scenario where makers either release lower quality work to meet demand & damage their reputation/s OR cancel projects and possibly quit modding altogether
This could result in anything from apprehension regarding future projects due to a dip in quality to the crumbling of the community which is something I hope doesn't happen

On topic, I cannot commend redspace enough for the mindboggling work going into this project - truly outstanding and more than worth holding out for
I, for one, would gladly take one fantastic release over a release needing several revisions

Thanks everyone for the continued support. As Im nearing completion to this project, I have decided to add in one more enemy type (as the result of me removing many other bosses) which will be found in a new area I have planned that is slightly more open then the current areas I have now. The purpose of this is to allow you to move around a bit more, while still making this area kind of risky to stay in.

Oh god that Bioshock enemy scared the crap out of me one time in Bioshock Infinite. Loving how the idea maybe when he sees you you can make it so he turns off the power for 10 seconds leaving you perkless so kind of like a EMP punishment.

Well he is supposed to scan a area without moving, making it so the players have to use stealth to get through a area. He shouldn't be considered a boss, more so a threat to the players. He is going to be completely avoidable, for those who don't like this idea.

Sealing the exits to the area was my original idea, and I still kind of like that one as well. The map already uses alot of fx, so I don't think covering it in fog would be a option. If I do the sealing exits, I may be able to have the bos turn into a cloud of mist, which has to have a certain # of damage dealt to free the trapped player.

Then again, I don't want to make the map extremely confusing. Theres already so much going on at once, Im worried players wont know how to react.

Amazing :D love bioshock infinite - unfortunately the boys of silence were in a very small portion of the game which sucked since i thought they were the best enemies.

I do like this idea, but in my opinion, if only one player sets of the punishment, it should only affect him and not the whole team, especially if they didnt give him the go ahead, if say the power went off that would affect everyone doing their own thing which is not really fair and would just piss everyone off and they'd rage if they went down, so i like the idea of doors closing in just one area that the one guy is in and lets say he has to kill x amount of zombies until the doors will re-open again

The boy of silence should cause i ringing noise in your ear like if you were to stand close to your own frag and it blow up, but if any zombies are around it they should be stunned to, but when you kill it, anything around it should take damage.

u should add die rise 4leged things (: so when u turn on power for the crane in after life soon the container doors open they spawn mad fast out of the container like 20 make it so jump walls to walls and stuff so players had no other way but to run (: and shoot I think it good idea and u can make so much better add your own stuff

I first saw this map from MrDalekJD and wow  :rainbow: this map looks amazing. I've been keeping up on it ever since and this has been my top map I've seen. Redspace, goodjob. Please make more maps, and put a mapping progress bar too!

This map will not be release now. Sam (Redspace) decided to move on From Custom Zombies. He put SO much work into for nothing. And there like no way to contact him, cause he deleted everyone off skype and blocked me  :-\. I'm one of lucky few got to beta test the map, and i can see it was absolutely amazing! He decided to move on and is deving a engine last thing he said before he blocked me. He completely done with world at war in a whole.

And the stuff he did to me and my other friends that aren't call for. i wont state them here.

But hate break it to everyone,

He wont even come here probably to say its cancelled.

Well if all this really is true, which it seems to be, I hate to say it but I really hope someone leaks the Beta. It's not fair to deny the community this map after hyping everyone up about it for MONTHS.  It's not that I don't respect redspace, I wish him luck in whatever he's doing now, but I'm sure I and many others are very upset about the cancellation of this map. I hope I'm not coming off the wrong way :/

It is true. If he kept you on skype he probably forgot ur apart of WAW community. I have the beta still, but i wont leak it for privacy reasons. Im upset with it. very upset. but as of like 5 hours ago me and him were friends then it ended up a fuck you and a block.

Well, i want to say that this map had some serious potential. When i first saw this map it got me thinking about how much time this guy has put into his map, so i sat there thinking, when this map comes out, i will play the hell out of it and just never stop playing because this map just has the potential and the positive boost from such a large community such as ugx mods. it really is a shame that same chose not to release such a fine piece of art such as this map. and about this engine he is supposedly developing, if it is a great engine, it will work as an apology to the possible 10000+ people waiting to play this map.

To be honest guys, if a map like this actually gets you this hyped up, just message me, and i can work out a map for you guys which has the same kind of style.

But seriously redspace, i hope you do well with this engine, and in the event that the map does come back alive, you will be our holy saviour.

That's unfortunate.  All the time an work put in just to walk away.  Other factors or interests in Sam's life might be taking up his time leaving little room or care to continue WaW as a personal hobby.  I wonder if some of the development pressure, expectations, comments, or resulting "publicity" circus from MrDalekJD contributed to this decision. 

I've walked away from hobbies before so I can understand the mindset and reasoning.

I find your comment somewhat troubling.   

Most people here undoubtedly will communicate disappointment if Sam (Redspace200) has decided to cease development and wishes not to release the map.

You say you respect Sam, but then adamantly support leaking someone else's private work into the public domain.  Sam does not owe anyone here anything.  People choose to contribute to a community and share their contributions by choice. Developers that see their trust and those of other developers violated will be less inclined to contribute in the future.

Respect Sam's contributions past and present, if he decides to leave or not release it's a huge loss.  Beyond that privately shared files should stay private and not be dispersed publicly or leaked.

These are the type of comments that would make me want to walk away from a community if I was developing a map.

I understand the disappointment, but I find the growing mob mentality and number of entitled posters here somewhat disturbing.  Playing free maps, making a few comments on a forum, or waiting for map release doesn't translate into contributing toward development.

A number of talented individuals contribute their time and energy developing maps for what is mostly a hobby.  Nobody owes any of us anything.   The WaW mod community like other modding communities, survives on goodwill, respect, and contributions.   Please try to remember that.

For me, Gun is saying bullshit, all of this started because one guy said it's cancelled, but dude, just because redspace is leaving, that doesn't mean end of the world. He may still finish the map, but let's not make this any worse until we receive a statement from RedSpace.

Bullshit? im not bullshitting you... I HAD Proof go fucking look... HE ISNT RELEASEING THE MAP. HES DONE WITH Waw... in all and all. He not going finish it he told jzob and cowman. And you want know how this started? he fucking used jzob and cowman for all his ports. Then he owed them scripts but instead said no and did half ass job. he wanted to leave 5 months ago but i convinced his ass to stay and contiune. And he wont give a statement. he said he put world at war in the past. nothing personal. did u even read.  :facepalm:

He didn't mention anything about the map in your proof. Also, how did he tell Jzob and cowman if they were blocked, huh? After that, we had a statement from redspace that he is still working on it.

This was before the block. Were your proof that he still working? HE SAID he was done... Even because of bugs. I can show u on skype when i get home, he called our map in seprate chats too "Shit" and im done with waw community. Dude ive talked him for a year now. He is done working on his engine, he gos to school for scripting and game making.

but i will not release the private beta.

Ok guys enough of this please. There is a simple solution to this matter... we wait and see if RedSpace himself addresses the matter. If he says it the map is cancelled then it's cancelled. ONLY when the RedSpace says it is cancelled mind... this is not GunofTruth's thread!

@Gunoftruth I understand you are not trying to troll or cause bother, but you really need to consider what you say sometimes, or how you put it across. A private conversation between you and Red should remain that way. RedSpace has not said anything to suggest what you are saying is true, and even with screenshots of you conversation, he could just be blowing off steam and not really meaning it. You should be ashamed for starting this. I am going to suggest having every comment from your intial one onwards be removed as this thread has had enough derailments in it's time.

@Everyone Else, please just leave this matter now. Nothing can be gained arguing about something we do not even know is true or not yet. Thanks.

besides, Redspace has to release the map, it was in the contract he didnt know he agreed too, when he allowed me to make a trailer for the map he also agreed to my contract stating in section 34b that any trailer I make for a map that map must be released, there is also a part of the contract in section 23a stating the contract does not need to be mentioned or seen to be agreed to  :troll: also ill probably die from depression if its not released so theres that too

First, I would like to convey gratitude on behalf of the silent viewers of this forum for your past and currently unreleased contributions.  Second I apologize if any of my comments contributed toward the resulting pressure felt during this project viking development cycle.  It was not my intention if that was the case.

Most people will be disappointed by a decision to leave the community, but you should make the best choice for your stability.  Pursue  interests that make you happy;  if that means taking a hiatus to clear your head or leaving for good, then do that.  The community won't like it either way, but developers are people too and we should remember that..

Good luck in your future endeavours

Yes, could you please do that? I regret what I said before, I was also just blowing off steam, plus it was late at night and I had just finished a tiring afternoon of homework before I posted that. Also, I doubt Redspace wants three pages of his topic filled with this crap either. (just don't delete his explanation though)

My personal opinion, if you don't want to work on the map anymore that is fair enough, but if your map is at a playable state, then i would release what you have, as it seems a lot of people would be hugely disappointed if the map didn't come out, based on some peoples responses to the sheer possibility of this happening, a lot of people have been anticipating this map for a while, and it is common practice for the best looking maps to not see the light of the day, how about changing that pattern up and give the custom scene some sun light?

Mate, we just talked about not pressuring him into releasing it as it is (i think). He will release it when he has finished it and has given it the seal of approval. THEN, we can all be happy people and enjoy what we have been given.

These are the type of comments that would make me want to walk away from a community if I was developing a map.

I understand the disappointment, but I find the growing mob mentality and number of entitled posters here somewhat disturbing.  Playing free maps, making a few comments on a forum, or waiting for map release doesn't translate into contributing toward development.

A number of talented individuals contribute their time and energy developing maps for what is mostly a hobby.  Nobody owes any of us anything.   The WaW mod community like other modding communities, survives on goodwill, respect, and contributions.   Please try to remember that. >implying that I'm a angry mob cause I shared my disappointment of a possibility that the map was canceled. Nice logic there pal, anyway on topic I've been anticipating this map for a long time and I do really hope that redspace finishes this map. Also good luck to you redspace since you are a very talented person. :)
