De_dust 2

de_dust2 is a counter-strike map which is famous a lot of people played it and now i decided to make it i have mapped it

yes indeed :D but this time the player is a terrorist and i am seeking for porting counter-strike models for zombies :D

You started working on this after 29th July? Just looks like a lot done for less than 4 days. :)

He could've extracted it and got it working over the past few days. Only took John Doe about 3-4 days to send me Inferno (another map from CS) for example.

Oh yeah, forgot how easy Source maps are to extract & decompile. :P But it being pre-made make it against the rules?

first of all : i didn't use john's idea about porting i mapped it from the ground to the roof so it isn't against the rules and second here is some new progress the pathnodes is all done now ;D  and i totally forgot about lights and reflection thing i will add right now

PM'd. Maybe you should send it to Trem instead and he can judge it seeing as he's holding the contest, or we can get Johndoe's expert opinion as he's the one who knows most about ported Source maps.

Looking at your 'Heros' (sic) WIP I can clearly see that you did not map what's in those pictures in 3-4 days...

i want to send it to hole UGX if it ok just to let people see what i have done with my map and for the last time i didn't port the f*$#en map  and for Heros that map is cancelled

OK well my conclusion is that you're a better mapper than me for sure, I couldn't have mapped this in 3-4 days.

Also the one part I'm positive wasn't ported (the UGX letters made out of brushes) are very obviously worse quality than the rest of the map, coincidence?  ::)

As someone who has ported a source map before(the first de_dust) i can say that it does look like you ported from a source game.

Generally, you can tell if:

1. Whole burshes being used for buildings/walls/structures with separate brushes for curves/edges

2. random brushes outside of the actual map or sticking out of the map.

Nothing against you Tim but as i said, it does look like it is a port.

Clearly this map was ported from Source engine, especially since your only progress pictures are of the already completed map layout. This map is now disqualified, you are welcome to start a new map to re-enter the contest. I have added a new rule to the contest since apparently porting a map wasn't clearly against the rules of starting a map from scratch:

You cannot port your map from any other game or engine - this includes porting Source maps such as de_dust2. If you are remaking a map from another game you must provide reasonable proof of development progress just like everyone else. You can't magically have the whole map layout done in 3 days.
