How do I remove an fx from my map after a trigger is activated?

The title says it all. I want the text to say "Welcome (Playername)" but I can't figure out how to get the players name. Anyone know?

Nevermind, I figured it out 

So, if I wanted to use something that I had in my inventory and I wanted to have it activate by holding the USE button and a bar loaded how would I go along with that... Can I do that?
