    WW2 Themed Zombie Map designed for both single player and Coop, with many secrets to uncover and a mix of the old mechanics,

    THE MAP

    • Description: Das Herrenhaus is a zombie single player/Co-op map based in Der Riese style scripts and tries to capture the kino der toten feel. It represents an elite boarding school ruled by nazi scientists.
    • Background Story: In the last days of WW2 a british paratrooper unit was sent to a remote place near the Rhine. What was told to the soldiers was that they were going to set free a boarding school ruled by a nazi officer, and identified member of the group 935, the doctor Hermann Schuster. However the destiny of that unit remains untold. Two months after, with the war finished, the strange place was closed and abandoned. Nothing was heard of the students, professors, the british soldiers or even the doctor Schuster himself. A week later, somehow, Richtofen landed the teleporter inside the cursed building... The locals still remember that night, those screams, those lights...

    MAPPER NOTES (FAQ)

    • The map has a background music system. Is it licensed? Can I play it in a Youtube Video?
      • The right's owners of the music used in the map are all from Jamendo and are properly credited in the readme and mod files. This music is given in CC license, for attribution, sharealike and noncommercial purposes. If any doubts, there's a music slider in the game settings.
    • I hate the boss, it's completely OP and invincible. What can I do?
      • The boss is part of the optional major EE of the map. He is the begining and the end of such EE, so If u dont' like him, don't start the EE. If u start it, then you'll have to finish it in order to defeat him. ;)

    • I started the EE, but have no clue at all on what to do
      • Yup. you have some clues. This is the only thing I will say. Every step of the EE is actually described in the map or hud. And my apologies, there'll be no text objectives or such. Embrace the challange. Share the word with pals and beat the map. I can guarantee you it can bee done.

    I started this map two years ago, because I was talking all the time with my little brother on how would look a zombies map made by me. I never tought it was possible to make good maps till I entered this community and I saw some mapper's work. They know who they are. This inspired me and made me come across this unbeliveable journey with thousands of bugs, errors, wrecked meshes and misplaced animations. I hope u enjoy this map as I enjoyed building it. This is my first and only map, and while I did all the building, most of the scripting and such, this is not a son to call mine alone. Many people helped me, and I hope they are as happy as I am to get to this day. My best wishes, and good hunt!

    PD: This is the version 1.0 and has only been tested by the beta team. If u have any errors, bugs etc. just say it here or on a PM, I'll adress them as soon as possible.

    PPD: This map does not require any mods, dowloads or anything similar. Anyway, and just to be clear: its nearing almost all limits known. If u hit some limit when loading, check which game version u have, Steam or Retail, and communicate it to me. Thanks a lot for your time.

    Well, this issue is a bit annoying and I'm pretty sure must be really easy to fix.

    There's a specific area of the map where only a specific aitype zombies should spawn and rise. However, (the spawners are perfectly set up, believe me) due probably to the script mechanics, the riser structs are used also by the neighboring zone riser spawners and viceversa, so the specific aitype zombies spawn inside and outside of the specific area and so does the regular zombies.

    Any ideas?

    Well, i was trying to set up different voices for the different zombie types: boss, novas, etc

    I found many functions for example quad_vox and quad_close that seem to handle that for novas but they are not called anywere. Does anybody know which script handles the sound effects done by zombies: ambience, attack and close?

    Well, Cod Waw seems to be behaving stupidly. Since some time ago I started to hit the 2400 image limit frequently. I used ignores, reduced unnecessary images, even put all weapon chalks in one image lol to save up. Today after a compile without adding any textures the fantastic game throwed up on me the error again. I decided to look at the log to improve my ignore file and my surprise was that the game is loading most of the images twice and sometimes even three times.

    So, what do I do? Suggestions?

    Well, this is not any help request. I'm at the final stages of the Herrenhaus map, adding clipping and lights. However, I really like the regular blundergat and I have everything needed to implement it on my map. But, I hate the acidgat and I don't want it or to wast my time in scripting it and such.

    So, what do you think? My map tries to be a Black Ops style map, with many features from kino and weapons and even the feel. The wunderweapon is the thundergun, and i also dislike the maps that have too many weapons. Mine has the same amount than kino plus one. Do you think i should add the regular blundergat and its upgraded version? Do you think a blundergat can come without the possibility of making it acid or that would be lame?

    I don't know if it happened to anyone, but seems that many of the lights that I assign to be primary_spot disappear in game when looking directly at them or getting to close. Its odd, so you can turn around, wait for some seconds and turn fast and see how the light disappears fading really quick, is like they are hidding from me. Any clues?

    Ok, i tried this and several ways to make my zombie boss detach the regular zombie head models and attach a specific one with no luck. I can make so he dettachs the regular heads but then the thing is to make him have the desired head. Maybe someone can point to what I am doing wrong?

    I know it is possible and i did the main setup in radiant. I made a trigger_multiple that kills the player once he falls in a specific place. Gave it the targetname horrific_death.  However, when on quick revive solo or in co-op, players will go on last stand. How can i make it so players that fall there die permanently?

    My map is nearly finished. I was adding some detail when i hit the max vertx from geometry Limit. This happens by using too many brushes and i fixed it by replacing some things I made from brushes with models.

    So I replaced window boards brushes with scriptmodels of wooden boards. The barriers work fine at the start, dont cause errors and is compatible with default anim and sound system. However when you rebuild the barriers they ignore their original position and just come back in a default position and without rotation.

    Anybody tried to make barriers from models? Any clues on fixing this?

    Yaphil made a post on how to make specific viewhands to every player. This improves a lot the game experience, but however has an obvius problem with hide_tags, as you cannot input 4 viewhands models inside weapon file. How to make this compatible with hide_tags?

    Also, are just BO1 hands that mess up hide_tags? I tried some hazmat hands from BO2 and same problem.

    Is this possible? I've got a model for a wonder weapon that has too many surfaces. maximum is 32 and mesh is 35. Also, some parts or tags are not needed. However, the hidetags tactic won't work cause different viewhands for every player.

    So i need to delete the tags and mesh faces that each model dont need to create different models. But, when i delete the faces unneeded, model gets messed up ingame. I don't know if its a proper way of doing this, but i tested the anims with the model with deleted parts and works fine in maya. Also, there's a part, the j_loader tag, wich does not appear in position in game but does in maya. Any help would be great. Im amble to do skype and workaround with this issue.

    I know, i know. This must be explained in a lot of places, but i was looking during a entire day for it and even helped by Awesome Pie Man with no luck. So, I wanted to make zombies that spawn directly inside the map, without having to go trough windows. However, i don't want them to rise, risers are one thing and zombies that fall from ceiling holes etc are other thing. So, how you do it?


    I achieved it by placing a exterior_goal in front of them, but i think that broke carpenter and also makes my map have lots of popup boolean errors when running in developer mode. So, any clues?

    I made a custom zombiemode_weapons based on the one from black ops and some personal ideas. After three days of troubleshooting and fixing, the script works fine (I mean that firesale works, boxes appear and disappear) . However, I found some bugs that must be fixed and that I can't fix by myself because I don't see the source of the problem.

    Here the bug list:

    - Second time firesale is activated, every mystery box spawns a random model (always the same model, but diferent for each box: one spawns dempsey, another a grenade, another an arm) wich disappears during weapon randomization and comes back when weapon is set.


    - Also, second time firesale is activated, random teddybears show up instead of weapons

    - After firesale is over and box is closed there's a small lapse of time (less than a second) while player can still buy the box

    - When box moves, gives back two times 950 points.

    - Poltergeist FX does not show up, even on normal box or firesale boxes.

    Ok, I've been learning on how to port properly weapons using maya and stuff and now I've got some weapons fully animated, working with stats and sounds. However, some of them seem to have little holes on the geometry, like the stg44, wich has a small invisible surface on the part where the gun canon joins the rest of the weapon. I think this is due to maya reducing polygons in the exporting proces, so some surfaces may not align properly.

    Any clues? Here's an image of the issue:



    (I think I can fixing by modifing geometry in maya, but i want your advice)
